Oh, Salty - he's not afraid of homicides. He's afraid of guns.

    Size of the US Military

Unable to answer that question without knowing the goals. For example, are we still going on the National Defense Strategy of fighting two major conflicts in two different locations? If so, then the numbers are probably about right. If we're going on an NDS of "surgical/precision strikes," with...

    Anyone in Air Force?

Over-stayed my welcome. Funny thing was, the last 5 years I worked more for the Army and Navy than I did the AF. My final assignment, my direct supervisor was Army; his supervisor was Navy.

    Apple / FBI Legal Battle

As of today, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Twitter are officially siding with Apple.

What Did You Do In The War Buddy?

Sapper Woody, who seems to no longer be with us, has some stories he could tell.... For our "mentoring" job in Afghanistan, we'd have to put on our battle rattle, walk outside the camp gates, stroll through the Afghan checkpoints, about 1/2 mile down to the Afghan Ministry of Defense, through...

Should Apple comply with federal order?

Not sure what you're implying there; but yes, if you're actually employed by them, please do. I was merely indicating that your question was similar to theirs, and made the same mistake.

Should Apple comply with federal order?

By the way: Your question is invalid, and makes the same mistake the Pew poll made. This case is different because it's not asking Apple to "unlock the iPhone." The issue is that Apple cannot unlock the iPhone and thus, the FBI has instead gotten a court order to demand that Apple create an...

    Apple / FBI Legal Battle

(if you look hard enough, the state of New York has 72 phones they'd like to be able to do the same thing with)

    Female deacons

agedman - If you disagree that Stephen (Acts 6-7) was a deacon, then you don't need to read the rest of this post. It's been my experience that Moses' brother and Stephen are the examples typically pointed to as "deacons"; those that assisted the pastor (helping Moses keep his arms up) and...

    Apple / FBI Legal Battle

See--that's the thing I keep running across on the sites I visit. The FBI *could* have asked the NSA to do this. Instead, they chose to enact the All Writs law, and basically force Apple to comply. That's the sticky point for me.

    Apple / FBI Legal Battle

The funny thing is, I usually agree with ITL on most things. It just seems to be technology that we part ways.

    Apple / FBI Legal Battle

The cooperation in the past was with previous operating systems. This situation, because the operating system has changed, is different. They did help with this case, until the FBI screwed up and changed the iCloud password--which has produced the conflict. I disagree with the logic of your...
