    Elected or Chosen?

I think this guy (MB) makes WAY too much out of the difference in the English word "elect" and "chosen". He fails to recognize that in the Greek, they are the same root and thus mean the same thing.

Preacher... what do you take up to the pulpit to preach???

Good point... shouldn't always assume the pulpit.

Preacher... what do you take up to the pulpit to preach???

Bible I am assuming. But what else? Notes? Manuscript of Sermon? Your memory and that's it? Powerpoint clicker? This is not a thread to argue which is best. This is a true poll to see how the preaching constituency here on the BB do their preaching.

    Son of Man then???

So I had little to no interaction with the other thread to the Son of God meaning (all definitions except for deity I accept). So what then does Son of Man mean? This may be more important since it was Jesus favorite term for himself. I won't give options yet since that discouraged...

    Son of God means???

What do you think the term "Son of God" meant? Is it a reference to Jesus' deity? His royal messiahship? His fulfillment of Israel as Israel? Identity as the last Adam? Something else?

Is it even Biblical to Pray for a Person’s Salvation?

Baptist pope is speaking ex cathedra. I guess I'm a heretic then b/c I believe that regeneration is what will cause faith in the gospel. Ho hum, woe is me.

Is it even Biblical to Pray for a Person’s Salvation?

???? So Paul wasn't talking about the salvation of his Jewish brothers??? Maybe go back and read Rom 9:1-5 then just to see how the context makes it clear.

Is it even Biblical to Pray for a Person’s Salvation?

One of my favorite passages in light of God's sovereign election in Rom. 9 is Rom. 10:1 10:1 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelites is for their salvation. So to answer the question, it seemed Paul did.

    Christian Profanity

I would except there are enough here that would jump on me, report my post, and have my expunged. And even then, I would only use it to convey a particular thought, and the intensity it conveys is rarely present in these discussions.

The way in which I used it was not to offend nor was the person to whom I was speaking offended. It was used to effectively communicate that lack of veracity and valor in a person's views (in this case, I pointed out the chicken ****). No offense was taken. So your entire scenario is moot b/c...

Well, how do you really feel... I could say that your complete obstinance towards everything I have said and argued for is just as stupid. But how does that help the discussion along?

has the SBC Decided if they Are officially Cal/Arm yet in beliefs?

"leaders" so called would have no power to make such a decision in the SBC. Your question misunderstands the "power structure" of the SBC entirely. The influence of these doctrines throughout the SBC will come down from the seminaries teaching of these doctrines. It seems at a stalemate to...

Or you are dead wrong in saying that certain words are inappropriate at all times. I don't things words like s*** are necessarily inappropriate. But since certain members of society thinks they are, I avoid the use around them and reserve it for specific occasions.

    Christian Profanity

If God is offended, which is really the core issue, then I would avoid it altogether. But God, who created language, I do not believe is offended by the appropriate use of certain words.

Um... no. The argument leveled against me repeatedly is about offending people. But not all people are offended by it. Therefore, the language can change as the company changes.
