    Textual varient in Dan 2:13

Interesting. The KJV indicates "slain." The word seems to mean "to slay"; and is connected to a word that literally means "slay," but figuratively means "to cut off." Gill, Poole, and Henry seem to agree that at least some of the magicians were killed, if only to evidence how cruel and unjust...

    Do you take evangelism seriously?

But he didn't say he doesn't talk with lost people; he indicated he talks with them individually, rather than speak to a group like checking to see if tge spaggetti's done: throw it at the wall and see if any of it sticks.

    Do you take evangelism seriously?

So his "life witness" isn't enough? He must also give out tracts, or open-air preach?

    An Alternative Future for Halloween

I'd prefer putting it on Saturday. But I don't do Halloween, so y'all do whatever.

Boots on the ground in Syria

It won't be "Obama defeating"; if anything, it will be "Obama's leadership over a coordinated effort".... You're correct in that Obama doesn't show any tendency toward military thinking. This is political and economic thinking: using the absolute minimum amount of resources to achieve a goal...

Teen Beaten, Pepper Sprayed, Tasered, Arrested because Cops Said he Had “No Legitimate Purpose”

Please explain. Which part(s) of my response cause you to come to this conclusion?

    Is War Beautiful?

    No, it's not.

Teen Beaten, Pepper Sprayed, Tasered, Arrested because Cops Said he Had “No Legitimate Purpose”

Poncho -- as a reminder, I can't watch the videos. Not enough data on my satellite internet. Don't do YouTube, don't do Netflix. Can't get cable at my location. Happy I'm getting almost 10mbps speeds, although the FCC mandated that 25 was the required minimum for ISPs.... Anyway, exactly right...

Texas woman with a concealed gun accidentally shoots a patient in her doctor's office

Tom - this is the only article I was able to find: http://www.kcentv.com/story/30298765/gun-falls-out-of-purse-results-in-accidental-shooting-in-beaumont

Texas woman with a concealed gun accidentally shoots a patient in her doctor's office

BTW: the opening post mentioned KCEN, so I went to their website. Posted today: http://www.kcentv.com/story/30366942/grand-jury-finds-february-gatesville-shooting-justified

Texas woman with a concealed gun accidentally shoots a patient in her doctor's office

My problem is, and the Daily Kos article and subsequent advertisement about the NRA are prime examples, the blatant ignoring of facts. CTB asks for rational gun laws, and then cites things that require a license--while ignoring that there is a license required for concealed carry. The call for...

Texas woman with a concealed gun accidentally shoots a patient in her doctor's office

Well...she had a license for her weapon, CTB. Unless I missed something that said she was carrying illegally, she filled out the same paperwork and was approved by the same agencies as all the other responsible concealed-carrying folks. As for "need" -- how do you determine "need to carry"?

    UFO Disclosure

In 1988 or 1989, my wife's uncle relayed to me that, as he had stopped his semi in the desert of Nevada to take a break, he watched an SR-71 flying overhead. For a brief moment, it was silhouetted against the moon. Then, a large bat-wing shaped object was silhouetted against the moon. He asked...

Teen Beaten, Pepper Sprayed, Tasered, Arrested because Cops Said he Had “No Legitimate Purpose”

Poncho, it matters because it's been happening throughout history. It matters because, are we talking about an actual increase in incidents, or is it actually proportional to population? With the rise of easily accessible and transmittable infirmation, are we simply seeing it be reported more...

Teen Beaten, Pepper Sprayed, Tasered, Arrested because Cops Said he Had “No Legitimate Purpose”

Poncho - do you believe this is occurring more often? Or reported more often?

Yes, I do. All the time.

Officer kills 17 year old:'How in the world could this happen?' Guilford family speaks out

Ann - The second officer wouldn't have pulled the kid out of the car; he would have assisted the first one after he pulled the kid free of the car. Two cops on top of the kid would have more easily restrained the young man. The second officer might also have provided a balancing point that...

    Praise and Request

Returned from the city today (even the hotels have better internet than I do at home!); invasive scan this morning was clear. Have to wait for cancer doctor's analysis, but looks like she won't have to do that again for 3 years. 4 months since last update, still cancer free! Thanks for all the...

    called

Peter - no offense intended. It was a theological test, because you seem to want to be "trying out" the baptist denomination. I myself am a Christian by second birth, and a baptist by conviction. Perhaps the two most important questions, in my personal be-it-ever-so-humble <grin> opinion are...

    The Reprobate Calvinist

John - I don't usually participate in these debates because they're typically just opportunities for each side to say how wrong the other is, and quickly degenerate into ad hominems. Here's the answer to your last question: True arminians don't argue election, and embrace election. The point of...
