If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

In other words, when you eat the bread and drink the cup at the Lord's Supper you acknowledging your faith in what He did at Calvary. Paul said beware if you eat this bread and drink this cup unworthily, he eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. Do you know what...

    Dead in Sin

Ok, I can go along with that. Sounds reasonable for that verse. Being we can't come to Him on our own, do you see it acceptable to say one is totally depraved when it comes to salvation? That is without any help from God.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

No Cathode, that is Catholicism speaking, the words of men. Christ didn't say His flesh was real food, He said "take, eat, this is my body, while He was sitting at the table with them which was obviously not His literal body, or anything of the sort. The broken bread was a symbol of what He...

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

Yes, I will admit I'm ignorant on many things and unstable at times, part of being a country boy. I'm neither on this subject! Oil and water is what we are, Cathode.

    Dead in Sin

LOL, don't esplode, it's just an expression I though appropriate at the time. You should know I take every Word of God very seriously, not doubting a word of it.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

We've discussed all of this before. Paul told us how to be saved and how to live this Christian life, that is what Christ gave him to do along with many other things. Why didn't he tell us about that? The reason is obvious, it's symbolic. I can't discus this with someone bound and determined to...

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

The Eucharist is a very good thing, as many things are, but when we take those good things and make them a requirement for salvation, thereby adding it to our faith in Christ, we have made a grave error! That is adding a Law, the works of man as necessary to be saved. We Protestants can't go...

    Dead in Sin

Let's suppose that John 6:44 is true and no man can come to Christ without the Father drawing him. Most folks I know call that "total depravity" the inability of the natural man to seek out salvation without Divine Intervention. What do you call it, and how does that draw take place?

    Dead in Sin

The last one to know the knowledge they are increasing in others, is the one who gives it.

    What Day Did Christ Die?

It can be confusing but here's how I understand it with Christ confirming as Jonah was in the belly of the whale 3 days and night so will the Son of Man.... I believe in a literal 3 days and 3 nights, but this is argued and I won't contest it. John spoke of the "High Sabbath" that week along...

    Dead in Sin

Many said the same of our Savior. Just the same, none of them can prove your Scriptures to be false. In fact it's overwhelming, and I've learned from you, Brother.

That only proves you're standing by the stuff, and it will be rewarded.

    Dead in Sin

Yes sir, and it angers me in in the spirit and comes out through the flesh. Sonething I do better with instead of letting it stir.

    Lent...

I don't follow Lent as in a particular time of the year but at any time I feel the need I do as Daniel did in eating no pleasant thing, denying the flesh its desire. A reflection of the flesh vs the spirit. Instead of that rib-eye steak I had planned it may be a pbj sandwich instead. I give...

    Dead in Sin

The Gospel was no mystery to the Israelites in the wilderness, Paul said the Gospel was preached to us as well as them. But the Gospel had no effect on them not mixing it with faith when they heard it. The same as today.

    Dead in Sin

The Scripture says to call on God when He is near, while He may be found. That is when the Holy Spirit speaks to the heart of man when he hears the Gospel.

    Dead in Sin

This goes back to the question of where does saving faith come from? It comes from the hearing of the Gospel as Paul said, if we accept that Gospel.

    Dead in Sin

The only way that man can call on God for salvation is through the hearing of the Gospel. Then after hearing the Gospel man can accept or reject that calling. I agree with the Calvinists that man is totally depraved but not in their doctrine of what it means to them.

    Dead in Sin

It's not God's will that any perish, so I would agree God seeks out all for salvation. But man can reject that salvation. That's a good point, Ben!
