Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We judged the vet because he stole. We're also guilty of stealing. We've been properly chastised. Thanks, Jesus, for setting us pharisees straight. Oh, wait; you're not Jesus. My bad.

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

But it ignores the real truth of the point of this thread: did the vet do wrong? Wasn't necessarily referring to you. Don't fall into the trap that CTB baited with the opening post and subsequent responses: misdirection and straw man arguments overlooking what the vet did, which was give away...

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

The passage from Matthew that was quoted earlier does NOT apply because it was preaching individual responsibility. The more applicable passage, which I posted a few pages back, is Eph 6:5. But for some reason, those that quote the Matthew passage don't want to address the Ephesians passage.

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

I agree that Cracker Barrel should review this policy; but as I mentioned in a previous post, it may not be up to Cracker Barrel. Their insurance may be driving such policy(ies). HOWEVER, whether we agree that the policy is immoral or not is irrelevant. The company made a decision on how to...

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

So in light if what this thread is about, was the vet right for taking his employer's food and giving it to the homeless?

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

I see CTB is going to do his best to avoid calling what the vet did "stealing." The sad part is, everyone here agrees with him about immoral laws; just not that disagreeing with an immoral law means you can act immorally yourself. C4K has done the best at boiling the crux of the matter down to...

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

Is it Christ-honoring if it's used to justify stealing?

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

No, I can't answer yet. You admitted that the muffin didn't technically belong to the vet; but you didn't answer if what the vet did was stealing, and as such, was it immoral. Nor did you answer if it wasn't stealing, why it wasn't.

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

CTB has consistently said that the vet was right for giving the homeless man food that he didn't pay for and wasn't his to give. I agree with giving everywhere and any way I can; should I steal to do it?

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

What's immoral about saying "you can't give our food away"? The vet said in the interview that he would have paid for the muffin if Cracker Barrel had asked him; why didn't he just pay for the muffin without being asked? Answer the question, CTB: did the vet take something that technically...

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

He's not confused. CTB is defending stealing from your employer in order to help others. That's the crux of this discussion, plain and simple.

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

Having already been warned several times, this wasn't something he was trying to avoid; it was something he was blatantly ignoring. Something else: although someone made the comment that anyone claiming to get sick from a muffin was remote and nearly impossible, let's consider: Why do they have...

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

Would that passage happen to say that they were supposed to use other people's food and belongings? You have yet to prove that anyone is saying the vet's intent was wrong; but he should have paid for the muffin himself, or asked someone else to, instead of stealing from his employer. If you...

Cracker Barrel Fires 73-Year-Old Veteran Who Gave Food To 'Needy' Man

Oh, please. I bring up the harsh reality of the sinful world we live in, and you try to say that's an indication of the hearts of the posters here? I made no comment whatsoever about whether I thought the vet was correct or not. I do believe that he had been ordered not to do this on several...
