The errors in the Fundamentalist Movement

"Easy believism" (commonly referred to as "say this prayer and you'll be saved) is a common characteristic of some ifb camps.

    Religious Discrimination

Allow me to provide an example from a recent interviewing committee I was part of: we asked the gentleman about a comment he had made on his resume. He explained by talking about how his predecessor had a nervous break-down. It was very easy to look through his previous employer's records...

    The OT still counts

My two cents, because I don't mind y'all letting me know where you think I'm in error: The law wasn't "put away." Not sure where people keep coming up with that. The law was never meant to be the way to get saved; it was our schoolmaster to let us know what God considered (and still...

    Religious Discrimination

Exactly what old timer said. Remember: they're hiring someone who will be a representative of their company. They want to know if you'll be a positive representation, or a negative one.

    Religious Discrimination

Don't have such a thin skin. Did someone cuss and yell at you in the interview? Arbo was talking about the interview, not your everyday job. View it from the interviewer's position: if you're interviewing people for a job, and one of them tells you he didn't like his last job because all...

    Taxonomy of Fundamentalism (IFB)

I thought this thread was about identifying different ifb "camps"?

Job an example of great suffering:

FOLKS -- in the name of decency, let's leave relatives out of this, what do you say? Yes, our God is a covenant God; but this thought that Job was "outside of the covenant" doesn't make any sense. For example, the covenant was always through blood; and Abel's sacrifice, well before Job, was...

Job an example of great suffering:

What do you mean "without a blood covenant"? And what's this "warped concept"?

Job an example of great suffering:

For the record: it's not uncommon in the middle east for employers to beat their employees; and these are grown men, today, in this day and age. Children experience what we westerners would easily label as physical child abuse. How much more so thousands of years ago? Job's suffering was...

    Pelagianism

    In what way(s)?

    Pelagianism

In your first post, you seem to use arminian and pelagian interchangeably. Do you consider then the same thing?

    Jesus and the death Penalty?

There is NO difference between the OT law and Jesus' ethics. When taken in context, this passage does NOT rescind the death penalty. I don't know anything about you, and have no idea what you know or have studied about the middle east. I spent some time there, and have experienced a little of...

How does the holy spirit pray for us?

Yep; gotta have the last word....

How does the holy spirit pray for us?

WE ALREADY DID. But you keep coming back for more. You're not one of those people that just have to have the last word, are you?

    Jesus and the death Penalty?

Here's where I disagree with you: I don't believe Jesus changed anything in that passage. He merely pointed out to them they weren't following the law. And this is where I think some folks misunderstand some things, but I'm not going to communicate this well, so please try to understand: 1 Tim...

How does the holy spirit pray for us?

IF we all agree, then why are you still asking? Do you disagree with what I wrote? Or are you trying to make an additional point? Are you possibly trying to say that it is not us speaking, but the Holy Spirit speaking through us, using our vocal cords and voices? Please say that's not what...

    New Doctor Who

Well...now that I've read up on the Valeyard (didn't like the 6th doctor, so didn't watch)...John Hurt being the Valeyard makes more sense to me. There's a lot of talk about John Hurt wearing clothing reminiscent of McGann and Eccleston; but that big fuzzy coat reminds me of an earlier version...

How does the holy spirit pray for us?

The Holy Spirit did, indeed, give utterance in Acts 2; however, that utterance was magnifying God. Thus, it was not the Holy Spirit interceding on our part. No one was being prayed for in an unknown language; and thus, this does not relate to Romans 8. The question has been answered: How does...

How does the holy spirit pray for us?

Y'all know this thread was over 15 pages ago, right? I'm just as guilty as (guiltier than, in a lot of cases) anyone else for perpetuating it.... The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalves. He doesn't pray "through" us. This has nothing to do with "speaking in tongues." 'Nuff said.

    Baptist church labeled "Hate" group

Gina - you may be thinking of his brother, Paul. Like someone else said, you shoulda heard Tom's dad, especially over the last couple of years before he retired and put up his son as his replacement.
