I am sorry if you cannot understand, but it in fact not only changed the meaning, it reversed it completely. Whether he was being honest or not, is another debate (I personally don't think he was being honest).

If that is what you think, then what are you debating here.

I agree with both you and CMG in that I believe the president was being dishonest. But, what I was trying to point out is that CMG was being dishonest by taking a sentence of the president's out of context, to make it seem as though the president was saying something he wasn't.

Now, I understand that the president didn't mean what he said, and it was just another of his lies. But, it is wrong to lie and say the president said something he didn't.

CMG took the part about "the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet" out of context. By itself, it seems as if the president is condemning every religion except for Islam. But, when you take the whole thing in context, it reverses the meaning, and now he's saying that no one should be allowed to slander any religion, or deface any icon.

So, my problem is not with what CMG is saying. I agree. my problem is with his dishonesty in his portrayal of the president in order to prove what he believes. It makes Christians look bad when we take something like that, and say "the president said this", then the world does 3 seconds of fact checking to find out we have manipulated what was said to fit our agenda, and we look no better than the mainstream media.

Actions speak louder than words. Obama addressed the issue of Islam and made a statement from an Islamic point of view that anyone who slanders Mohammed should be put to death but Obama softened it to saying that they should have no future. And in domestic issues, Obama acted in at least one instance to stop "slander" of Mohammed.

The problem is that Islam fails to define slander so it becomes anything that I don't like. We have seen this for several decades now. Islamists say horrible things about all other religions and in fact engage in nazism.

No one was lying. He, as I do, believes that the first part of the statement was his real focus and we have honestly interpreted his words based on that.

Guns are NOT banned in France. They're heavily, heavily, heavily regulated. Example: You can own a Marlin 45.70 lever action; but you must have a lifetime "indefinite ownership" license and hunting or sport shooting license, be seen once a year by a doctor to ensure you don't have homicidal tendencies, only transport it from your house to the hunting or rifle range, etc. France even allows for concealed carry; but you have to work through politicians and judges to get it approved. Worse than California, but France is still slightly better than England.

So - to support what y'all are saying: All that regulation, and criminals were STILL able to get hold of illegal weapons and use them against unarmed citizens....

Remember when Catholics, Scientogists and Mormons killed the creators of South Park? OH WAIT, THEY DIDN'T!!

So why is it when we hear about brutal slayings like these, it always seems to be carried out by proponents of a, ahem, one certain religion?

CNN International is reporting: “Police found an ID document of Said Kouachi at the scene of the shooting, CNN affiliate BFMTV reported. ‘It was their only mistake,’ said Dominique Rizet, BFMTV’s police and justice consultant, reporting that the discovery helped the investigation.”

2 suspects on the loose: Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi. Police find shooter Said’s ID at the scene of the shooting at the Charlie Hebdo magazine offices, where 12 people were killed.

Incredible. Professional killings, one killer just happens to lose his ID at the scene.

Seems kinda familiar.
