I don’t believe our Constitution allows for elections to be suspended.
The VP has to be eligible to serve as President.

situation - Trump would not be running for POUTS, rather Veep. Some would say that is a loophole, but legal!
Remember George Wallace - when he was termed out - he had his wife run. She won and he became a "Special assit" to the Governer.

SCOTUS would obviously say that the last clause applies no matter the order of occurrence.

I don’t think DT would try it.
He has been vindicated by winning a second term and much of his agenda is getting passed this time, despite two assassination attempts, non stop hyperbolic rhetoric of every thing he says or does, and deep state of judges challenging everything.
I suspect he will act as “king maker” for at least 28, and maybe a lesser impact in 32, should he live so long.

I doubt very much whether Trump would suspend the elections, considering how Trump viciously put the boots to Zelinski for suspending his elections, calling him a dictator. Trump doesn’t even think a time of war is excuse enough to suspend elections.
Trump could still win the next 4 terms if it was Donald Trump Junior, followed by Eric Trump.
Imagine Don Junior put his hand up for the Presidency, I think he would win. Donald J Trump Junior could take this MAGA thing to the next level, if he isn’t scared off by what his father went through.
It would be far easier for Junior however, since Senior has cleaned house of much of the institutionalised opposition, and it would cement his father’s legacy.
I also doubt that Trump wants to compost in office like Reagan, Trump made mention of this in 88. He also has had the perfect preview watching Biden disintegrate in office. He values his dignity and legacy more than the power of office.
And “ a prize fighter has got to know when to quit. “ , his past comments and psychological profile say he doesn’t want another term, even if Trump thought he was owed another term to make up for his harassed and thwarted first term.
This is Trump Seniors last term. Three terms chatter is either trolling by the Right, or fear mongering by the Left.
Besides there is a good depth of intelligent talent with JD Vance who is from heart and soul of the American heartland, the embodiment of the American dream come true.
