I refused to perform the marriage ceremony of a 21 year old boy to a 15 year old girl. The boys mother said it was ok because the girls parents signed a release. Talk about parents who didn't care much for their little girl. The boy's family never came back to church. But, I was not going to compromise on this one.

 Just curious, how did some of the other folks in the church react?

.. Anyone who forbids on any other grounds is a bigot and standing against the Lord and not with Him.

FAL, I wonder, do you actually know the definition's of words such as bigot, discrimination, prejudice, racist, ect?

Do you actually know the responsibilites of a pastor?

The vast majority agreed. What kind of parent would sign off on allowing their daughter to get married at fifteen? Most (not all) 21 year old kids don't have any business getting married.

I believe a minister should have the right to refuse to marry an inter-racial or any inter-whatever couple that he deems inappropriate.

I believe that anyone who holds such a prejudice does not love his brother who he has seen and because of that is a liar if he claims to love God who he has not seen, making the bigot lost.

FAL- That's a pretty insulting statement. You should apologize.

Yes I understand those words and I understand the responsibilities of a pastor. I also have no doubt that the Lord would sanction two people for marriage no matter the mix of race as long as they are both saved and for any pastor to refuse them on the grounds of their mixing races he is a bigot.

Do you believe that this is insulting and God should apologize?

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

You keep quoting this scripture - please show where "hateth his brother" has been stated!!??

Lacking such proof, you are putting words into another's mouth, and I agree with others that YOU SHOULD APOLOGIZE!

Refusal to do so just shows that you "hateth your brother" by accusing him falsely!!;):D:rolleyes:

FAL- You, not God, are in the wrong. You owe Salty an apology for accusing him, without proof, of lying and bigotry.

It does not take a quote of the words. To hate them all one has to do is feel that they are inferior and will not allot them the same privileges that they enjoy.
people do not make slaves of a race because they Love them. In this case neither does someone stand against two people marrying because they are different races if they love them. Love holds no race exceptions. To point ut a brothers sin is not hate. It comes from love to get them to repent.

Again, I ask that you show me where this is stated, otherwise----!!??

You seem to feel the need to tell us what others are feeling but offer no proof. And where do privileges come in as relates to your accusation? (By the way are you a democrat - you argue like one  )

Put your proof where your "mouth" is!!

Incidentally, just because YOU infer this does not make it so.

So, proof or apology??????

A bigot is a prejudiced person who has differing standards for, different ethnicity, race, class, or religion based on their personal values.

A prejudice is a prejudgment, an assumption made about someone else who does not fit our standard based on personal values.

Racist, a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races should remain with their own race.

Black parents object as much to mixed marriages as do whites. They feel that the person entering such a relationship is trying to deny his heritage and that they will lose their culture and identity. They see it as assimilation into the melting pot. African Americans also resist it because of the shortage of marriageable black men.

Black women feet betrayed or deserted when a black man marries a white woman. Black activists feel mixed marriages weaken the African-American solidarity.
http://www.hubbynet.com/interracial_marriage.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interracial_marriage_in_the_United_States

White Americans were statistically the least likely to wed interracially, though in absolute terms they were involved in interracial marriages more than any other racial group due to their demographic majority. 1.9% of married White women and 2.2% of married White men had a non-White spouse. 1.0% of all married White men were married to an Asian American woman, and 1.0% of married White women were married to a man classified as "other".

3.7% of married Black American women and 8.4% of married Black American men had a non-Black spouse. 6.6% of married Black men and 2.8% of married Black women had a White spouse. 0.1% of married Black women were married to Asian American men, representing the least prevalent marital combination.

There is a notable disparity in the rates of exogamy by Asian American males and females. Of all Asian American/White marriages, only 25% involved an Asian American male and a White female, and of all Asian American/Black marriages only 15% involved an Asian American male and a Black female. 19.5% of married Asian American women and 7.2% of married Asian American men had a non-Asian American spouse.

88% of foreign-born White Hispanic males were married to White Hispanic females. In terms of out-marriage, Hispanic males who identified as White had non-Hispanic wives more often than other Hispanic men. U.S-born White women of non-Hispanic heritage were more likely to marry Hispanics who identified as some other race (19%) than White Hispanic women (2%).
