Yes, Abraham, was the father of His chosen people. He is also the "father of many nations". We are grafted into these promises. If you are Christian then you are also one of His chosen people.

I was under the impression we Gentiles were grafted into Israel's covenant.

I thought Israel to be the natural branches of the olive tree and we Gentiles are the inferior branches grafted in.

I think I remember Paul telling the Gentiles (the Church) not to be high-minded, but fear, if God broke off the natural branches take heed that He also will not spare you.

Romans was written in 58 AD and Paul, the author thought there were Jews and gentiles.

Rom 3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are (present tense) all under sin;

He actually thought he was a saved Jew in 58 AD. Check it out.

I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

The same author, writing in 60 AD, thought that the superstructure of the church was built on a Jewish foundation. I read that here.

They don’t contradict each other. Read them again.
The distinctions before are the same as they were after.
God is not a respecter of persons.
The only way to make them contradict is to go to the extreme and say something like if God doesn’t see a difference between Jew or Gentile, He must think they are the same person. This is not in any way reasonable. God knows the difference between each person He creates. Each person is different and behaves differently. God’s standards are the same for everyone.
2 Chronicles 19:7
Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

Romans 2:11-16
For there is no respect of persons with God.

What is the point of Jonah preaching to the Assyrians? They were on the other side of the wall.
