So Aquila had come from Italy but was still in Rome. Not forgetting that Paul, 20 years after his death, wrote John's letters.

Do you wonder that I am not convinced by what you write?
I can easily admit that yes, I made mistakes.

If you think human mistakes nullify a person's position, then I feel sorry for you. You must then think that your position is correct because you make no mistakes. :(

I do allow for typos & reply to what I read as the correct version, but in this case you were carefully explaining the meaning of the Greek as the exact opposite of what you meant to say.

Of course I don't "think that [my] your position is correct because you make no mistakes." I think my position is correct because it agrees with Scripture, & no counter arguments are convincing.

And of course a number of other forum members substantially agree with me. I always carefully consider the Scriptures cited in these discussions. I'm not posting from someone else's arguments, though I do look at the Internet to get a point of view apart from those in the discussion.

But what part of this is hard to understand?

Titus 2:13--"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."
Your position misses so many rich meanings of the not-yet 2nd Coming of Christ. Sorry, still very gloomy to me.

So how long will Christ not come in your view? 1000 years? 1,000,000 years? A billion? Eschatology is the study of the end. Full preterism has no end.

There is no point in pursuing this further. It is clear that my responses are not even registering with you. I suppose you will stick with your special agenda-driven definition of "hope" in the second of those three usages.

Your last questions are so jejune that I am at a loss to even answer them. Clearly you weren't paying attention or you wouldn't even ask them.

Yes, but that was a major mistake you made. And you abused the point to bash pretetism. Are you sure you know your way around the Greek?

Oh good grief! You are questioning the credentials of a man who is a noted linguist and bible translator and teaches Greek at the college level?

You, who has no credibility at all regarding Koine Greek, and if you ever had any credibility you destroyed it by supporting every crazy conspiracy theory since "Who killed Cock Robin," question John's credibility?

That would be funny if it were not so sad. :)

There is a reason why I wrote what I did. It has to do with a comment of his earlier. Oh, well.

I am not surprised that John gets free pass here. Has he ever written anything you disagree with?

He has made blunders in his Greek, especially when it seemed to offer a means of criticizing preterism. Just because a man has a professorial avatar does not oblige me to accept him as an authority.

That's a good one. Because I believe in the 2nd Coming, I spent 33 years in Japan, am the lead translator of a new Japanese NT, currently teach Greek 101 and Church History, am working on having an MA with a concentration in Bible translation in our seminary, lead a Japanese pastor in getting his one year diploma from my Japanese distance education program, am writing a book on a revivalist, am working on a further degree, work security in my church, etc., etc. And no, this is not boasting, but simply testifying of my life for Jesus, as Paul often did.

So, what does your amil belief inspire you to do for Jesus Christ?

I believe in a last day judgment "2nd coming" (until Im convinced otherwise), I don't see much difference there.

You want to know what I did in my past?

I drank and did Drugs

And now Im on here born again talking with other christians. And that was before I was "amil".

I respect what you did and do, And Im sorry if the lack of anything I accomplished causes you to look down on me.

No, a disagreement between you and John.

You both are very intelligent men, It would be interesting.
Well, for starters, he's a dispensationalist, I am not. (At least not in the traditionalist way - I am more of a minimalist.)

The thing is that both John and I are intelligent enough, and well grounded enough in the word, that we are not threatened by those who disagree with us. :)

Well Im glad you are not threatened by it. That would be a sad life to be threatened by everyone that disagrees with you.

I don't know anyone that agrees with me 100%.

We're still not getting anywhere. There are those who say Jesus' parousia has already occurred, I am among those who say it hasn't.

Those who say it HAS have the burden of proof. I stand on the fact that the world is the same as it was in 65 AD except for modern inventions. Basic lifestyle is still the same.

Scripture describes many changes to the world accompanying Jesus' return, & it's obvious these changes have not occurred. man still governs man, & satan is still at large. Again, the "past parousiasts" have the burden of proof!

I have my own set of sins in my past. No Christian should ever look down on anyone. We are all saved by the blood of Christ, and none of us are worthy of that.
