My daughter has some ADD symptoms, too. SHe had a teacher in the 2nd grade who believed very strongly in repetition to learn things like spelling words. My daughter had to write her spelling words 5 times a day, every day of the week. Most of the other kids knew all their spelling words that way, but my daughter was driven almost completely nuts with the mindless repitition.
Humblesmith,
I think the point of the thread is that doctors are "giving" parents an excuse to be lazy and undisciplined by blaming their kid's behavior on ADD/ADHD.
And I hope everyone will remember that when they do have a child with ADD that they don't let the child use that as an excuse for his own bad behavior. He might need some meds for a while to help him learn how to cope, but personally I think this should be a temporary solution rather than a permanent one. And medication is not always necessary, even temporarily.
