A little help

A person simply relying on the KJV without anything to compare what the KJV translators actually said, is sure to be lacking in their preaching.
Some of the most effective preacher's of the last century barely had a firm grasp on the English language, let alone on biblical languages. If you are saved, the same Spirit that breathed the breath of life into you also breathed the breath of life into the Word of God. Your not going to have any trouble understanding it.

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Probably some of the most damaging sermons too.

Edit: I don't mean the preachers you're referring to in particular.

James White's book is an excellent book and one I'd highly recommend.

I read it and found many wrong comments in that book. I do not recommend it to anyone. A man confronted JRW some questions, but JRW is incapable to answer them. A Reviewer read it and admitted that JRW is wrong because he answered many wrong comments on some passages in the Bible. I do not think JRW is a scholar.

How about some links or proof? I'm still waiting for proof that "The KJV is the RECEIVED Bible because the KJV is the translation model predicted in Scripture."

First one note of correction. I don't believe John 16:13 applies to us today. I don't believe any believer today is "guided into all truth." If that were true, we would not have differing denominations. We would all be in agreement in all doctrines, and would not have anything to debate. We all would have "all truth." But that isn't the case.
I believe that that verse was specifically spoken to the apostles and refers to them writing the Scripture. The Holy Spirit would guide them into all truth--the exact truth that God would have them pen. Thus the original MSS are inspired, without error, and has all the truth that God wants us to have. No other person can claim that promise but the apostles, the writers of our NT Scripture.

Secondly, I don't believe that we should ignore Biblical commands:

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

They Bible commands to be students of God's Word. When we have so many resources at our fingertips, I believe that God will hold us accountable for the light that we have, and the light that we have available to us. He will hold us accountable for ignoring the light. If I am a preacher and I ignore time in prayer, and ignore the study of the Word I will be held accountable. If I ignore proper preparation I will be held accountable. If there are words and phrases that have meanings that can only be found out by going to outside sources that reference the original languages then I will be held accountable if I don't do that.

Nehemiah 8:4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose;...
Nehemiah 8:5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

Could you name some of these effective preachers?

I should like to enjoy just half their command and presentation of the English language. Compared to to-day, they were giants of the English tongue, and brilliant speakers to boot.

Cheers,

Jim

You've stated this before but never answered the question "Where are the mistakes?" Of course a KJVO will disagree with him but that doesn't mean he's wrong.

But the very point that PastorBob was making was that these so-called effective preachers barely had a grasp on the English language and little to no knowledge of the original languages.

Those preachers, especially F.F. Bruce! were certainly not the kind of men Pastorbob had in mind as effective preachers.

They were my kind of preachers. Not one of them murdered the King's English and truly preached the word clearly. I might add J. Sidlow Baxter. I could probably list a host of men, if my memory would only do me a service.

Cheers,

Jim
