A Question of Sincerity to ALL Gun-Control Enthusiasts?

I wonder about the maturity of someone who forms his opinion of another's spiritual walk based on firearms and the concept of self-defense.

Simple-mindedness.

Sounds an awful lot like a cop out to me.

Yes, using Luke 22:36 to carry a gun for defense to kill is a cop out. A single verse out of context is a dangerous thing. Jesus had no intention of reversing His teachings to suddenly give the right to kill. It is not a literal statement and must be read carefully in context of the situation at that very moment. Read before and after.

Go learn the meaning of Luke 22:36 in context and then we will talk. It is not an excuse to carry a gun out of fear.

I asked you what the difference was. Not for a homework assignment.

You cannot answer because you have none. Poncho had it right: Cop Out.

I'll wait and see if someone else gives their take on the teaching of what happened that night, the condition of the disciples' hearts, and what Jesus was really telling them. Then I'll answer.

Yes I'll answer. I doubt very many here can because most look for scriptures to give the okay to kill. I suppose one or two who really study can see the contradictions in the story and can see that Jesus did not literally mean to get swords for defense. The seemingly opposing instructions from our Lord require an in depth look. Rolf, how do you put together "buy swords" and then later reprimanding Peter for using a sword?

I saw you claim that you and one or two others are the only ones who can properly understand it.

Other than that . . . ?

Answer the question, as you say you will, with an argument. Not with another question...

I do not think that you have a clue about what you are arguing.
