I actually thought it was funny too, Matt.

And I thnk that is a difference between some of us. To you, this was an insult that if aimed at you would make steam come out of your ears. To me, it was simply humerous. Why? Because my identity in Christ can withstand the arrows.

If your IFB church isn't like the one in the story, then your armor, your reputation should be able to withstand the arrows. This should have been a non-event. The people in your community should be able to say with confidence, "hey, we have an IFB church in our town and they don't act/believe like that. We know because they come around and talk and help with community projects all the time. This must just be a problem that church had."

If questioned as Don was, then that your church members can explain that your church has policies in place to prevent this sort of thing and you don't practice "church discipline" in any such way.

The foremost thought given in this thread is: ABC has attacked every IFB church in the US and abroard by airing this story. How dare they?

But it should have been: "How awful! Do we have policies in place to prevent this in our church?" (which to their credit C4K, JoJ and a few others pointed out)

It's just as easy for the people in the community to say, "this must just be a problem that church had, so why is our local IFB church being categorized nation-wide (world-wide, thanks to the internet) the same as that church?"

I knew if they talked long enough they'd reveal the real reason they hate a certain group. The IFB's are no more rapists or women slavers than the next group. It's the conservative theology and the decorum in their worship that is hated. And they're "slammed" for daring to defend their positions with the Bible.

More than "slammed," they're maligned and falsely accused, and their accusers take up the cause of God's enemies to do so.

    YOUR personal experiences don't count.

The liberals have suffered more than Jesus, and therefore they have a right to slam IFB's, harbor bitterness and otherwise give vent to their emotional maladjustments.

YOU'RE just brainwashed and unlearned, and the scope of your experience is too limited to be of any value in this discussion.

If IFBS hold to the things I listed above they are holding to a man made gospel...

For instance.. bobbed hair for women... WHAT? That is sooo stupid to preach against... NOTHING In the Bible.. .and shows no grace from God.

KJVOnlyism is direct from the pits of HELL!

And any church that preaches KJVOnly ism.. is a church of Satan!

as it is caught up in satanic doctrine. (Wow.. I wonder how many IFBs fall into that category most all Hylesites.. preach this now)

And once again, you are part of an association that has women pastors. I'm sure you'll be ordaining homosexuals next.

KJVO is a church of Satan? Give me a break. You really are out there. You need to get your head checked.

ARe you a Baptist? Baptist believes in Priesthood of believers... ALL believers.. not just male... All are equal...

KJVO is a satanic doctrine as it discourages people to use Bibles.

NOTICE This everyone.. the IFB Matt Wade is comparing the sin of Homosexuality with being a woman!... Typical Pharisee...

<sarcasm> Now Tim, you know all us women with short hair are just being rebellious and rebellion is the same sin as witchcraft! <sarcasm>

Calm down my brother. Those of us who suffered understand and those of us who didn't, well praise the Lord they were so blessed and pray they never have to find out.

You should just shut up because you sound like a complete idiot. Never did I compare the sin of homosexuality with "being a woman". I compared the sin of homosexuality with the sin of a woman being a pastor. Try sticking to the facts instead of making things up, or does your association also condone lying?

    One last thing...
    then I'm gone...

It is so nice to see a IFB that shows love toward others by telling them to
    "Shut up"
    Calling them an "Idiot"

and then accuse them of "Lying"

    Yep..

INdependent Fundamental Baptists at their finest right there folks...

And people here are afraid of ruining IFBs reputations....

This is exactly what ABC 20/20 was trying to show... the truth of how IFBs are soooo hypocritical!

They protect themselves to the point that they condone hate toward brothers and sisters...

Matt.. .Buh, bye... May you feel comfortable in your cult.

You are the only one spewing hate Tim. You've been doing so this entire thread. I feel sorry for you and your inability to think logically.

Comparing ordination of women with ordination of homosexuals is just astounding.

I would recommend reading the book Slaves, Women and Homosexuals.

Scripture says the man is the head of the woman, just as Christ is the head of the church. We can argue about women pastors all we want, but I can't make that scripture say anything else.

And that's all I'm gonna say on that subject. Back to the point of this thread, please...which, at this time, even though I started it, I'm not quite sure what the point is any more....

I am going to close this and leave the comments intact. I think it is obvious that neither side on this debate has a monopoly on poor behaviour.
