What are you doing to stop abortion in this country? Wanna get fired up then listen to the podcast below.

http://renewingyourmind.org/broadca...r-the-voiceless-an-interview-with-john-barros

I am getting my team ready and doing my research. Today sent out two letters with abortion related gospel tracts from Chic Cartoon tracts and I am hoping someone from my team will have some 180 DVD's to pass out to women that are not sure to have an abortion. So what are you doing or what will you do after you read this post and hear the podcast?

Our church started - and we support - a wonderful crisis pregnancy center. I am also adopted so I think a good face on the abortion issue. :)

Wonderful. Unfortunately my church is not doing anything, but I did send a request to the pastor and would be willing to lead a team to a abortion center. I got the tracts, can get 180 DVD's, and perhaps setting up a table at a abortion center would work, or at least we could go down and I can do some open air preaching, and we can sing hymns and talk with women.

What are you doing to help the pregnant women? Are you offering them prenatal care, place to stay if needed, adoption alternatives or birth control?

I cannot do this without the help of a church. All I can do is pass out tracts/DVD's, preach, read the Bible, and persuade. I could make referrals however.

One thing you can do is not believe the democrats when they tell you how much they care about the poor and downtrodden.

I'm sure there are churches doing such things in your area, partner with them, I'm sure they would appreciate the help. There are so many layers to this issue, lots of places to help.

A good idea but it depends on the church. I won't partner with a liberal church, a charismatic church, etc.. I can only partner with orthodox churches either Calvinist or Arminian.

Evan, consider this passage that Paul wrote to the church at Philippi:
Philippians 1:12-24 said:
12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
I've bolded one verse, because it sprang to mind reading your response above. Paul rejoiced that Christ was preached, whether he felt the preaching was sincere, or in pretense, he still rejoiced. Why? Because "Christ [was] preached." So long as the person was preaching, people who needed to hear the gospel were hearing about Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit could work.

Similarly, you are blocking off several avenues of potential help in an effort, simply because you disagree with them. No one is saying you have to worship with them, but if a "liberal" church came up with a great plan of action to take a stance against abortion, and you realized that plan could actually do a lot of good, would you really still ignore them, simply because they don't hold to your doctrine?

...er, uh..., forgive me folks but the biggest stumbling block I see in this matter of abortion is..., there's too many "I's". I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me, my, my, my, my..., look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me.

It would seem to me that all one can do is tell them about Jesus and let Him do the rest. Should you focus on one specific issue such as long hair, drugs, saggy pants, homosexual behavior, those out of wedlock, etc., you merely inflame the very one you're trying to reach...., as in their mind, they have the "right"!

I have a grand daughter that's working on child number three. She does not adhere to the abortion crowds rhetoric (which I am grateful for) but all of her children have different fathers.

...one needs to focus on the "whole" individual and their lost condition. Course, I'm not a Biblical Rocket Scientist, as you know. :tongue3:

Not only tell them about Jesus but give them a true choice - one that includes life for the child. Give them opportunities to either keep the child or put the child up for adoption. Adoption is a beautiful thing and I for one am grateful that it is the choice my birth mother made.

The bible commands SEPARATION from apostates and not fellowship as you believe.

Can't think of the verses at this time but I wrote an article on separation sometime ago and have it online.

Apostates are dangerous and we are not to have fellowship. It's not about disagreements but about the truth. I could partner with a a ARMINIAN church but not a liberal church.

When Jesus spoke of the Good Samaritan, understand that this man was considered a "dog" to the Jewish people. He was someone you didn't even look at but yet this man stopped, helped the severely injured man, dressed his wounds, cared for him and put him up for days and would continue to pay for him until he was well. I'm glad this man didn't feel that he needed to separate from others and not help anyone.

Helping someone on the side of the road is not the same as working with a apostate church.

I'm not telling you to try to evangelize people or take a leadership position in an "apostate" church.According to your idea of separation then you shouldn't even try to teach these "apostates" about the Lord, because you would have to interact with them in order to do so...or is that why you write letters and send tracts? So that you never have to personally interact with them?

I have met with apostates and talked with some on the phone so your argument is flawed. Evangelizing someone and calling them to REPENT is not the same as working with them in a ministry endeavor.

Besides there are plenty of solid evangelical churches in the area. On secondary issues we may disagree (eschatology, bible translations, cal vs. ARMIN, music, alcohol) but if they are orthodox we can work together.
