Kentucky is an area where one would think that there is a lot of good Biblical preaching. There is some but not much.
At least in western KY

Hogwash! There's plenty of good, Scripturally sound preaching there in Western Kentucky! I go through there every time I go to visit my mother and sister in Illinois. You paint with a pretty broad brush there.....

Eastern Kentucky...... Freewill Baptist churches...... Paintsville, Louisa, Big Sandy area. Preaching is solid Biblically, just that style of preaching. I had an uncle Jarrett who preached that way. Everyone in the churches throughout that whole area preached like that.

I've been in churches in those areas, and I haven't seen this....Of course, I don't go to "Free Will" Baptist churches very often but even those churches that I was in in that region didn't seem to preach that way.

Well, that was back when I was a boy in the late 50's-early 60's. So maybe it's changed now. I haven't been back down there since 1972 when my grandparents passed away.

All over the tri-State area I live in-OH,WV,KY. Some are baptists; some are evangelists not claiming any one denom. I believe hacking & deliberately using "hilljack English" when it's not the preacher's everyday speaking style, & speaking long discourses in Elizabethan English is deceptive and in error. (I listen to many preachers on the radio, especially late ones such as Dr. J. Vernon McGee & Adrian Rogers. Like you & I, they all have/had their faults; none are perfect but Jesus. But they're effective preachers who preached in plain English without any chicanery.
