An answer to the sinless day

No wesleyan influence at all. I have come to the conclusions of walking in victory through much prayer and careful study of God's Word.

No Wesleyan influence needed to glorify ourselves with our own "sinlessess"

Your careful study must have been REALLY careful, really careful not to read any scriptures that would blow your "righteousness" away!

When did I say that God was unable to keep someone from sinning?
That seems to be your implication since you apparently think that believers, who are living in the power of the resurrected Lord Jesus, cannot help from sinning more than 24 hours.

This is not a denial of God's power but an admission to our own depravity.
Does the work of sanctification in our lives actually do anything that is noticable? Is so, then why is it so hard to believe that a Christian might have a measure of victory over sin?

Sin dwells in us.
Yes, but in Christ we are crucifying the old nature, putting aside the old man.

With Christ, we are no longer a slave to sin, we can live victorious and yet we will always have the battle until we go to heaven.
Absolutely. So why do you have an issue with the idea that Christians can make significant progress?

With Christ, we are guranteed that we will win the war with sin. We are already assured of victory. Victory will not be complete in this mortal life.
I agree. So why are we having this disagreement?

Yeah, for that matter, with what some are sying here, why can't they go sinless the rest of their lives after they are saved?

Why not? Are they denying God's power?
The simple reason is that we have a corrupt character, sinful habits and we live in a sinful world. We have been spiritually formed by the world and our own sin, and must undergo transformation in Christ.

Character transformation is a long, intense process that can only be accomplished through the grace of God and the power of the Spirit. When we cooperate with God in spiritual formation, our character is changed and we are more easily able to choose the good instead of the evil.

Please be careful with calling each other names (or initials) and turning a theological discussion into a mud pit.
Amen!

BTW, I was under the impression this was a BAPTIST only area. The false doctrine of sinless perfection is a hallmark of Wesleyan Theology.
I was not aware that anyone was actually promoting the idea of sinless perfection. (That, of course, seems to be the accusation, but it's not the reality.)

In 42 years of college/seminary/full time ministry I have never heard a Baptist espouse such nonsense.
I don't think you're hearing it now.

As I am a Child of God, I am not clothed in my own righteousness, I am clothed in the Righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Please show me Scripture that specifically says we sin each and every day. And the 1 John passage says nothing of daily sin so that wont fly.

Quit accusing me of not being saved.

Curtis,

Quit acting childish.

I have gone over all the posts in this thread and all the accusations have been toward HBSMN, not from him.

People do not like the message because it reveals truth and they cannot refute it with Scripture, so they attack the messenger.

That's just not true. In fact, it is you who said Christ wouldn't recognize me, what else could that mean ?

You and HBSMN have been treated very well, considering what you have tried to force down our throat.

Christ stated that many who come to Him He will tell them 'I never knew you'.

If one is serving a christ whose attributes are different that the Christ of the Bible, one will not recognize the real Christ until it is too late. Nor will He recognize them.

Both I, and HBSMN have given Scripture to back up our stance. We have also given accounts of Historical evidence to further show the truth.

I'm calling this "sinless perfaction" garbage. I'm calling the garbage you & others who spout garbage like it "garbage". The word of God is true. The rest is "garbage".

1 Corinthians 4.4
For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord.

Curtis,

See, there is where you are wrong. HBSMN has stated over and over many times on this board that he still sins from time to time. He clearly said that we do not have to give in to sin, but from time to time we do because the flesh is weak. He is not preaching sinless perfection. You, and others are misreading his posts.

His posts have been nothing but encouragement others to a closer walk with God.

You need to calm down before you blow a gasket. Sit back, go back over the posts, get your Bible out and post Scripture that clearly shows that our stance is wrong.

If you cannot find the Scripture that emphatically states we are wrong, then you need to reevaluate what you are calling garbage.

Sinless perfection is garbage, and I promise I'm calm.

I've got the peace that only comes with the knowledge of salvation, which you say I don't have.

Reading through these posts, I am both shocked and saddened at the remarks coming from some of the posters.

Paul wrote

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Colossians 3:8-10

I would agree here with standingfirminChrist, there have been countless accusations toward His Blood Spoke My Name, but none from him toward others.

The message is not sinless perfection, else His Blood would have clearly stated that you can get to the point where you never sin. He did not say that.

If the message cannot be refuted with Scripture, then there must not be any wrong in the message. Quit attacking the messenger.

One certainly has the power to walk in victory over sin if one has the Holy Spirit dwelling in him or her. That does not necessarily mean that one will always do the will of the Father. We still have our sin nature, it has not been done away with.

It's been a few threads, not just this one. SFIC has told me in no uncertains terms that not only will Christ pass me by, but also that I won't recognize him when I see him.

It's my fault it bled over to this thread, but if you take an honest look, you will see the nastiness has been thrown around by those who now claim now to be victims.

Very true, and I also apologize for what has been taken as a slur against HBSPN.

I didn't originally intend the letters B and S to stand out like they did but after noticeing them and seeing they were a little like what Paul said I left them. It was however a personal insult for which I apologize.

So if a day is possible, why not a year?
There a simple, practical reason... I don't think we live long enough in the mortal flesh to go that far in the transformation of our character. There will be a day when this mortal flesh will be transformed into the immortal nature when we will finally be perfected (completed) in Christ.

If I myself, were looking for a Christ who was different than the Christ of the Word of God, I would not recognize Him when He returned.

I see nothing wrong with what standingfirm has said.

Paul declares in Hebrews 9, "But we see Christ..." Do we truly see Him? Do we see Christ in the light of the Word of God? or in our own picture of who we want Him to be?

If we see Him in the things we enjoy or take pleasure in and they do not line up with God's Word, we are trying to clothe Christ in our righteousness when we should be clothed in His.

We are to put on the Lord Christ Jesus. I encourage others to really delve into the Word and make for certain they do 'see Christ' for who He truly is.
