Antisemitism in Britain

I was in Croydon (South London, two young lads stabbed there in last few days) last weekend and felt perfectly safe there, pretty much 100% because I'm not in a drugs gang and don't dress, look or act like I'm in one.

I lived in Southall, - an immigrant area of London - for nearly 60 years, & never walked in fear despite being one of the minority (white, English) community in the midst of Asian & Afro-Caribbean folk.

Our church there is led by a Pakistani Christian married to an Indian.

Alleged antisemitism in the Labour party is making the news headlines here.

Is it real?
Is it an way of attacking the Labour party ahead of elections?
Is it an way of attacking Jeremy Corbyn ahead of elections?
Bearing in mind that the US has AIPAC as a strong lobbying group, are Jewish/Israeli lobbying groups within the parties seeking to gain control?

BUT
What is the "Semitism" they/we are supposed to be anti?
Is criticism of the activities of the state of Israel antisemitic?

Other far more serious (?) news has been displaced by what I consider to be an invented news story:
Is it an way of distracting the news media away from the activities of Israel against Gaza protesters?

The poisoning of 2 Russians & a policeman - by Russians, or by a false flag operator from the nearby chemical weapon facility?

The British Foreign Secretary accepting a donation of £160,000 for the Tory party in return for a game of tennis? And other donations to the Tories from ex-pat Russian financiers?

The Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal that appears to have influenced election results, including Trump & Brexit?

The potentially disastrous Brexit negotiations by an incompetent Tory government?.

The West took diplomatic action against Russia for an attempted murder, when evidence of Russian implication was highly dubious. US, UK & France bomb alleged chemical warfare targets in Syria BEFORE UN inspectors can go in. ISRAEL attacks a peaceful demonstration inside Gaza of people forced from their homes, murdering many & injuring more then a thousand, including press & medical personnel, using internationally banned butterfly bullets that cause massive damage - and the world is silent.

No diplomatic action, no warnings, no call to STOP, & no suggestion of any reprisals.

What targets in Israel should be bombed? Armaments factories? The wall? Checkpoints? And should there be an immediate cessation of military & financial aid?

I think that I posted somewhere that Hamas is paying people who are wounded and Hamas is paying families of survivors.

Doesn't excuse the Israelis shooting them dead or using chemical weapons on them. I seem to have missed the bit where May, Macron and Trump bombed the Israeli chemical weapons facilities though.

None of which excuses the use of chemical weapons

The West stands together against chemical weapons.

Hamas has a program in Gaza that pays people for getting wounded or killed by Israel. If you get shot, you get $200. If you get badly hurt, you get $500, and if you get killed, your family gets $3000.

Hamas also has order people off the streets and shoots anyone out and about during a curfew. This forces people to stay in buildings about to be bombed.

Really? Why have we just bombed Syria then and not Israel?

I will say again: even if true, that doesn't justify the use of chemical weapons against Palestinian civilians by the Israeli military.

You really hate Israel, don't you? So far you have offered no proof. I should think that the Brits would forget about Israel since the Brits screwed everything up when they were in control from the capture of Israel to the freedom of Israel seventy years ago. British military was defeated in Israel once. UK needs to decide if they are on the side of Hamas if they are all in agreement with you, Matt. Israel is small but their military is top-notch. The Arabs have twenty-two nations and a land mass larger than the USA so the so-called Palestinians, the Latin word anglicized from the Greek word for Philistine, should be absorbed amongst the other Arab nations who have a lot more money than the bankrupt USA or the tiny island of the UK. The whole world is sick of the Arabs trying to push their unwanted off on the rest of us. You are a nice guy, Matt, but I disagree with what your country did.

It's not an either/ or: Jews and Arabs should be free to live where they want. I'm neither pro-Hamas or pro-Israel but i am for justice and equity. Given that Israel.has used white phosphorous against civilians, they should be held to the same standard as Syria on the issue.

And I agree that we should never have become involved in the area.

Hamas is an Iranian front I believe. At any rate, Hamas lies about everything and you should not believe one word they say. The West and Israel are allied against the forces of darkness and the Israeli army is superb. Some Arabs are even on our side, as they were against the Germans. It was a Brit who shot a Taliban leader in the head from a mile away the other day in what is the greatest sniper shot on record! The forces of darkness will be defeated.

More Whataboutism: you still haven't addressed the issue of Israeli use of illegal chemical weapons.

Yes, I said do not believe one word of Hamas.

Another problem that you have is your failure to call for the removal of the UN from the USA.

Finally, you said that UK should have stayed out of Israel, where you disobeyed the League of Nations mandate and were guilty of crimes against Jews, but now you want to interfere with that cup of trembling again. Why?

It doesn't come from Hamas: Israel: White Phosphorus Use Evidence of War Crimes Israel itself has also admitted to using white phosphorous.

Your second paragraph is irrelevant - why would I want to do that?

We were guilty of crimes against Jews and Arabs in Palestine, as well as them being guilty of crimes against us. The difference then was that the communities were getting along more or less fine there until we and then later the Zionists and later still the Arab Nationalists showed up and we all started a three-way fight.
