My wife and I were in a local specialist's office where I am receiving treatment, and we weren't wearing masks, and haven't worn them in this office before. After we had checked in and found a seat, one nurse started to throw a fit about us not wearing a mask. We told her that the doctor had told us that we didn't necessarily need to, and asked her to speak to him. She got huffy with my wife after my wife had stated this, and walked off. Then she came back into the office from taking a patient out to another office in the building, saw that we still didn't have masks on, went to the office window, grabbed a mask, came over to me, and told me that it was MANDATED in our area to wear masks...it's not! It was broken on one side. I didn't immediately put it on. But, one patient about half my age and a bit larger than me started cursing at my wife and me and asked if he could take a picture to post on Facebook so everyone could see what an (another word for a donkey) looked like. I told him to take all the pictures he wished, but that it wouldn't change my stance. He then started cursing at us more, and got up and started over our way, his fist drawn back. I just lifted my cane tip towards him and he stopped, turned around, and sat down, still cursing and yelling. I asked him to explain to me about the recovery rates and the TRUE C-19 deaths. He screamed, "you're endangering everybody in this building's life!" I put the mask on my face on the one ear that had a strap...as I said, the one side was broken. The nurses called him back about five seconds afterward. He said he'd be waiting outside. When I was done, he wasn't waiting. The sad part is that we have had people in this area assaulted for not wearing masks, and now they're starting to do this to people who are declining the vax!
Have ANY of you experienced anything like this? Because of things like this, more and more people in our area are seeking their concealed carry permits. People are getting crazy with fear over this virus. Living in fear isn't something I do. I never have, and I never will. How would YOU have reacted, especially if your spouse had been threatened?

There was a polio epidemic in my home town the year after I was born. How would you have felt if someone refused to take the life-saving polio vaccine and possibly could give it to your child. Why would people then and now refuse to take a vaccine that demonstrably works? Because they don't feel like it?

Call the police if you are threatened. Never give someone permission to take your photo. Don’t pretend to wear a mask to appease someone. Always remain calm (be blameless).

I hope the doctor has given clear instructions to the staff concerning the mask policy.

peace to you

I would have made sure my children were vaccinated so I didn’t have meddle in another person’s personal medical information, which is none of my business.

peace to you

There is no clear-cut PROOF that the vaccine works, especially when the CDC and Fauci end up contradicting each other or many of the points that have been disputed by others. The efficacy of the vaccines is questionable, and the wearing of masks in spite of the vaccine in some locales is even more cause for people to question the science behind the masks and the vaccines. In the case of the polio epidemic, that was something totally different. It also has NOTHING to do with this conversation.

I agree with your advice on not allowing people to take pictures. He couldn't because he was too far away, and my face was partially obscured from his view anyhow. My wife did tell him that if he took another step she would call the police. I don't think he'd have wanted to mess with the police, especially since we know so many of them here. I just hung the mask on my ear to have a place for it to hang. I never put it all the way over my face. I wanted the doctor to see what this inept nurse had given me. I know that the doctor has spoken to the nurse, as I heard them in the next room...his office.

I see folks with and without masks. Here I have not seen any issues. I forgot mine a few times and no comments.

There are very few places where masks should be mandatory (where one's beliefs about diseases and viruses could be determental to others if wrong). Hospitals and doctors offices are about the only ones I can think of. We don't know how compromised other people's immune system may be. Masks were probably always a good idea in those places (even without COVID).

Problem is people want to preserve their rights and ignore other people. So I think it will remain optional. Let the 8 year old girl with cancer, trying not to catch even the most mild cold, die if it means I must wear a mask for an hour or so. (A friend's daughter, not a made up story...she died).

But other than those places, I think it is a personal decision. I don't wear masks.

No, but I am 6'6 290. Honestly, only folks in my town who are into masks are old white women and black people. Seems like the blacks are Covid terrified.

My wife and I both have compromised immune systems and underlying conditions. We started following this story before it was even reported in the MSM. We have friends in Asian countries, and they told us there was some strange "virus" going around near Wuhan. We believe that we may have had C-19 in Dec of 2019. Our doctors, the hospital and the labs couldn't really tell us what it was then. But, thankfully, my wife was on vacation most of that month. So, she didn't lose any time from work. We both recovered after three weeks of sickness. We had acquaintances and some friends die during the beginning months of this "pandemic," and they had their deaths listed as C-19 induced. This was totally incorrect. Several had cancer, and "the virus" may have a CONTRIBUTING factor, but was far from the main one. An acquaintance was killed in a motorcycle accident, and his death was listed as C-19 related. The family had an independent autopsy done, and there was NO C-19 found. Skepticism had already started to grow because the numbers of deaths actually caused by C-19 alone were being inflated, the one that ALLEGEDLY had C-19 as a contributing factor being included. The guidelines on masks kept changing, and the number of people recovering from "the virus" showed us that it was being used as a fear tactic to control the public. It was a Socialist experiment. Fauci proved it by making statements about how the Trump administration would face a health crisis during his administration should he win the presidency. Bill Gates was wanting eugenics, and this helped his cause greatly. Many died because of inaccurate information, unethical tactics, etc. We had friends, some of who have now passed on because of cancer, diabetes, and other things, that asked us to wear masks around them because it helped them feel safer, so we did. But, those requests were few and far between, because these people, like my wife and I, had lived through other "pandemics" in the past. We all agreed, we ALL have an appointed time to die, God is the one in control, and we weren't going to live in fear. We put our trust in God more than in the ever-changing lies of science.

It is hard to know the facts during the event (on all sides). I suspect in a few years people will look back and see what actions were wrong.

One of our HVAC shops have 11 people. 6 were vaccinated (the site offered the vaccines) and 5 were not. They work in a close environment. The five who did not take the vaccine are out with COVID (one is in his early 30's in the ICU). The six who took the vaccine are at work and never got sick. This is not scientific at all (it is just an observation) and may just be happenstance. But things like this have happened quite a bit and it makes people wonder.

My personal philosophy is to wait and see. We do not know enough about COVID-19 yet. Time will tell.

But I do see the DNC trying to create a spirit of fear in order to gain political capital with the pandemic.

My local VA - will NOT allow me to come in unless I have on a tight fitting mask. I am medically unable to wear one. The VA web page states "Face covering" but they say tough. So I have had to cancel some VA appoints - I need to check agin now that CDC says masks may not be needed.

That is outrageous. Denying care to a vet? I’d be getting my local congressman involved with congressional inquiries into this incident. Maybe a story in the local paper, or local TV, or an interview on a national cable show.

I can’t imagine the VA would want that kind of attention.

Well, I always thought “burning bridges” referred to my doing something inappropriate on the way out the door.

Exposing this incident is appropriate. If you experience some sort of backlash that should be reported as well.

Good luck

Actually - i did call up the Veterans Hot line that Trump set up -
The director of the VA rec a letter from the white house -
but the basic answer I got from the Syr VA was "tough"

Since things are easing up - I want to see if there are changes coming
