Martin said:==Many modern Baptists who hold to Arminian positions deny that they are Arminians. They will say things like "I am not Arminian or Calvinistic, I am a Baptist". What they forget is that those labels identify certain theological belief systems. The simple fact is that everyone falls into one of the two camps. Even if they don't want to identify themselves as belonging to one of the two camps everyone is in one camp or another to one degree or another. I'm certain that if the theological system of some of those who voted "neither" was examined they would generally be labeled as Arminian. They may not agree with every point of Arminian soteriology but generally speaking they are Arminian.

I hold to points from both.
Is that a fence sitter?

Jim1999 said:Yes, I am a confirmed calvinist. those who adopt inbetween views are like only eating the icing on the cake, but never the cake. They want man to control God, "once-saved always saved". If you want me to keep you in my hand, I determine when I will flip my hand and you to boot. One can't have it both ways, I fear.

A Calvinist once tried to explain to me that "God only loves certain people, the elect." I was so disgusted by his arrogance and pride that I completely rejected Calvinism and I refuse to have anything to do with it.
In every church I've ever attended, the Calvinists were the ones causing trouble and constantly trying to force their TULIP points on everyone. At least one of the churches split. Maybe not all Calvinists are like this, I don't know, but since the ones I know personally are, the whole topic just seems too divisive to me, and I steer clear of it as much as possible.

I believe I was predestined to choose to agree here with Rippon as concerns Jim1999.Rippon said:Jim is of of the most gracious persons on the BB.
If you dare to stand on the fence on this matter you'll fall down on either side of it soon enough.
