Are you OK with professional sports teams public support of recent cop protests?

I don't feel that way. But you said so! Right here:

You must. I make a plain statement with no mention of race and you assume I'm speaking of blacks because you think they are ignorant and uneducated. Purely a case of projection.

And I say shame on you. :tear:

No, shame on you. For when you speak of the NBA and say "huge numbers" of them are ignorant, since the NBA is 80% black, YOU are saying blacks are uneducated.

While we're at it, I'd like to know where you got your little factoid that "most of those couldn't pass an 8th grade aptitude test". Considering the vast majority of NBA players have graduated or attended college.

Professional sports have always been cozy with "big brother".

Now this doesn't help your case any.
I've run across quite a few grads that can't even read at what used to be a HS senior level.

Yeah, so? Claim was made that most players in the NBA could not pass an EIGHTH GRADE aptitude test, which is miles from being a HS senior level.

So you don't believe any of the white athletes could be uneducated or ignorant?

Really, I never thought you a racist. Your assumptions surprised me.

Really. Unless things have changed dramatically, in 2009 only 21% of NBA players were college graduates. And many of them got a free ride in high school due to the athletic ability.

So athletic ability is somehow tied to intelligence? Just because someone gets a free ride on an athletic scholarship doesn't mean they are unintelligent.

Just for curiosity sake. What college did you graduate from?

I don't know why he's even pretending at this point.

I'm sensing some anger about this.

Nope. To education.

Okay. So I'm guessing that you yourself are not a college graduate since you dodged that question, yet you are implying that basketball players are uneducated because they left college early to go into the draft. That is ironic.

You are doing great today. Not your finest posting.

Nope. The people in the stands get to respond to that too.....

Zaac, THANK YOU - At least YOU answered my question. (about the police badge)

Let me throw something else in.

Have you ever noticed some pro players being a spokesman for a product - but they are not wearing the uniform of their team. (They may be in a "uniform" but with no name.)
They must do that, as they do not have the permission of the team and/or league to do the spot.

Those players should have requested and received the permission of the team prior to their outburst.

Now, once they are out of uniform and off the field - go for it.

Which again is irrelevant due to the fact that the NBA and the NFL have not reacted to these displays.

The reason you don't see players wearing uniforms in ads is because the NBA has their own sponsors they are responsible for and contractually obliged to represent.

I'm having fun. Some of you take yourselves so seriously.

But here's a fact for you. Athletes coming out of high school can receive a full scholarship and attend college with a 2.0 GPA. and that was just increased. It was lower. Non athletes as a general rule have to have a 3.0 GPA to be admitted to college even if they pay their own way.

So don't kid yourself by thinking athletes are held to the same acedemic standards as others.

As for me, I attended college 2 years and carried a 3.8 GPA and held down a full time job while I was at it. I finished my education in the jungles of SE Asia and never made it back to school. Happy?
