The "hymn" is a total misrepresentation of Arminianism. And I agree with Pipedude that to believe in the theology that this mockery represents would be to call the adherent to it a heretic.

Neither the Calvinist nor the Arminian is heretical as far as the orthodox beliefs in the Christian faith.

However a more Calvinistic version of Amazing Grace would be...

Amazing Calvinism, how sweet the silence that saved me against my will,

I never was really lost though since,

I was predestined to be here.

I was still lost, but now I'm found,

    'Twas saved capriciously.

'Twas grace that taught me nothing at all,

    Since I was totally depraved.

How precious did that grace appear,

An hour after I first believed.

It was not my intention to evoke more insults and misrepresentations.

For the record, I personally think that the original version of "Amazing Grace" (the five verses I know, at least), is sufficiently Calvinistic without augmentation.

I like most Calvinist hymns. One of my favorites is "Thy works, not mine, O Christ." I have to reinterpret a line or two to get around the Calvinism, but I do that sort of thing all the time anyway, being an Arminian and having to read the Bible and all.

I am glad you have a good sense of humor about it and are able to admit it.
