AV1611 Translator Sidenotes 2: Matthew

Ed Edwards

<img src=/Ed.gif>
In Aug 2003 I moved. I got behind
on going through the KJV1611 translator
side notes. The topic is now in the
archives. This continues from where that
stopped at Matthe 5:21

S.Matthew V:21 (KJV1611):

Yee haue heard, that it was
saide ||by them of old time, Thou
shalt not kill: and , Whosoeur shall
kill, shalbe in danger of the iudgement.

Or, to them

S.Matthew V:21 (KJV1611alt):

Yee haue heard, that it was
saide to them of old time, Thou
shalt not kill: and , Whosoeur shall
kill, shalbe in danger of the iudgement.

Well, what is different certainly is not
the same. Which was it?
Did them of old time say "Thou shalt not kill"
or was it said to them of old time
"Thou shalt not kill".
Stragely, it doesn't matter one wit.
For it was said of them of old to them
of old.

May all God's best blessings fall unto
the reader of this post, their family,
and their ministry. Amen!

S.Matthew V:29 (KJV1611):

And if thy right eie ||offend thee,
plucke it out, and cast it from thee.
For it
is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and no that
thy whole body should be cast into hell.

sidenote: || Or, doe cause thee to offend.

S.Matthew V:29 (KJV1611,alternate):

And if thy right eie doe cause thee to offend,
plucke it out, and cast it from thee.
For it
is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and no that
thy whole body should be cast into hell.

According to the NIV the alternate is a better
translation. I agree. The right eye is
more likely to cause you to offend others
than to offend you.

The words of Sauior Iesus
in S.Matthew VI:1 (KJV1611):

Take heed that yee doe not
your almes before men,
to bee scene of them : otherwise
yee haue no reward
||of your father which is in heauen
.

Sidenote: ||Or, with.

The words of Sauior Iesus
in S.Matthew VI:1 (KJV1611alternate):

Take heed that yee doe not
your almes before men,
to bee scene of them : otherwise
yee haue no reward
with your father which is in heauen
.

NASB follows the alternative.
NIV and NLT use "from your Father".

Later KJVs capitalize "Father" as
do the NASB, NIV, and NLT.

IMHO all versions say the same truth but
in different words. I do appreciate the
honor Given the Father by the capital "F".

I've missed these Ed and appreciate the time and work it takes to show us the variations in the real AV1611 that are reflected in both later revisions AND in modern versions.

Precepts, you are most entertaining ;) i.e. you don't want to be confused w/ the facts  It's sad (or funny) that you don't believe facts about the Real1611.

Ed is simply demonstrating the inconsistencies of the KJVO(kjbo) myth.

Yeah? I thought he loved the KJB? Why attack something you love? Or should it be understood you lack love because of your attack? Yes. Ed attacks the KJB all the time. Your irrationality is protruding again.

How is quoting the KJV1611 (including the translator's side notes) attacking it?

His whole premise is that the KJB has made "big" changes and he isn't sure what the real KJB is, that's his allurement to cause a distraction when his real motive is an attack on the preservation and purity of the KJB.

No, his point is that the REAL KJV included alternate possible translations. If you interpret the presence of alternate translations in the KJV1611 as "big" changes that confuse people about what the real KJB is, then your problem is not with Ed, but with the KJV1611.

Pointing out the alternate readings is not an attack on the preservation and purity of the KJB, rather it's giving EVIDENCE of the preservation and purity of the KJB. If you don't see that, its because you are defining preservation and purity in ways different than scripture does and different than the KJV tranlaters did.

That's not true, because he also includes the niv,NasV along with the KJB as preserved and pure renditions of God's Word. I'm sorry if Ed has duped you also. I will not fall into his pit.

Precepts' conspiracy theory. Reading your posts is better than watching old episodes of the "Twilight Zone" :D

Sometimes I truly wonder if anyone reads all the posts Ed makes, or do they just peek out of their darkness and peer into the realm of BB every once in a while and make their prognosis?

Can two walk together except they be agreed? I ain't holdin' hands with Ed, Orvie, Russell55.

Thanx! But maybe you can join the Bright Light Club, or stay in the Candle Club.

Maybe I'm just slow, Mr. Ed, what is KJV1611alternate?
The KJV1611
(the real KJV, the original KJV) has
translator notes. These translators notes
give the second best translation.
The text has the second best translation.
I am repeating the verse with the
second best translation inserted instead
of the first best translation.
I call this the KJV1611alternate
or KJV1611alt.

P.S. I had to work late tonight.
