Baltimore is a democrat problem, not america’s problem

Contrary to the emotional blackmail some leftists are attempting to peddle, Baltimore is not America’s problem or shame. That failed city is solely and completely a Democrat problem. Like many failed cities, Detroit comes to mind, and every city besieged recently by rioting, Democrats and their union pals have had carte blanche to inflict their ideas and policies on Baltimore since 1967, the last time there was a Republican Mayor.

In 2012, after four years of his own failed policies, President Obama won a whopping 87.4% of the Baltimore City vote. Democrats run the city of Baltimore, the unions, the schools, and, yes, the police force. Since 1969, there have only been only been two Republican governors of the State of Maryland.

Elijah Cummings has represented Baltimore in the U.S. Congress for more than thirty years. As I write this, despite his objectively disastrous reign, the Democrat-infested mainstream media is treating the Democrat like a local folk hero, not the obvious and glaring failure he really is.

Every single member of the Baltimore city council is a Democrat.

Liberalism and all the toxic government dependence and cronyism and union corruption and failed schools that comes along with it, has run amok in Baltimore for a half-century, and that is Baltimore’s problem. It is the free people of Baltimore who elect and then re-elect those who institute policies that have so spectacularly failed that once-great city. It is the free people of Baltimore who elected Mayor Room-To-Destroy.

Baltimore is a little Chicago and John Nolte, Editor of Breitbart, accurately described what happens once a city has been Democrat for a long time. Baltimore is 90% Democrat, like most big cities.

I wonder how long insurance companies will offer cheap insurance on businesses in Democrat cities?

The city is being led by a black mayor and chief of police as well as commissioner. The country is under the leadership of a black POTUS and Attorney General.

I do not blame them for the riots. BUT, I do believe they should be held responsible for not using their positions to make things right in the Baltimore ghetto and for that, all the ghettos across this country.

Years ago, I cut my teeth on inner city youth employment programs as well as CETA, and there is no good reason for Obama to not have put those shovel ready jobs money into inner city youth training and employment programs, so those who want to blame "whitey" for all the problems the blacks in America have need to open their blind eyes and see that their black elected leaders have let them down.

Of course, those haters on this board will take my comments apart line by line and give me more "blah, blah, blah!" But if they were honest with themselves, they need to take Obama apart, line by line for not taking care of business in his first six years.

Yes we needed medical care for everyone. However, jobs should have taken precedence over Obamacare. :tear:

It's sad to see what happened to the city of Baltimore. It used to be one of America's great cities and has a rich history but now Baltimore is just another urban cesspool.

The police/National Guard and their curfew should have both been in place since the funeral of Freddie Gray and then Monday night would not have happened. And Baltimore has not had a Republican mayor since 1965 or really recovered from the first wave of riots several years later. Then O'Malley being elected mayor then governor made a bad situation worse, but at least the state of Maryland has some hope with the new GOP governor. O'Malley's guy lost.

I was in Baltimore last June. Stayed at the Biltmore. They have taken all the old wood trim and walls and painted them black. The rooms are nothing but black and grey. The most depressing thing I have seen. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

Bteitbart is a sensationalistic news source, often exaggerating and embellishing.

But I don't think you can deny the underlying fact the piece tries to expose. Baltimore has been under control of democrats for 45 years.

Ray Lewis drove away from a double murder and ditched the clothes he was wearing. There was the victim's blood in his car. Cried racism and pretty much skated, (except of course, for that "undisclosed" financial settlement. It cost OJ nearly $35,000,000 to kill two people, one his wife. I'm sure Ray Lewis paid a lot of money out)

They got a statue of Ray Lewis in downtown Baltimore.

What kind of town does this ?

God is not mocked.

And here we go again. Create the cesspool, and then try to express disdain when people start swimming in the cesspool built for them.

Absolutely....except you left out that victimhood...which you seem so readily to advocate...is the foundation upon which that cesspool rests. We build our own cesspools - no one builds them for us.

Why why why why why? Reasoning with him is NOT going to happen.

I'm not sure if he really believes what he posts but this is a no-win situation. Leaving the city is "white flight" but they also complain if you return and try to "gentrify" it.

Nancy Pelosi and her idiotic family really jacked Baltimore up back in the day. Now it's one of the biggest cities for welfare recipients and for governmental employees. The public schools are an expensive joke yet the property and incomes tax rates are sky-high. I think it's true that the police state in the city has greatly expanded and police brutality will continue to increase. This is what happens in a huge welfare state.

I do have some sympathy for Freddie Gray, he is a product of this degeneracy. The deck was stacked against him from the day he was born because his life was a predictable result of the welfare state. But these same people run to the government for solutions to all of their problems yet forget the police are part of the government as well.

Baltimore was known as being rough 20 years ago. I remember when I was stationed in D.C. my wife and I would go to the waterfront and the stadium....but that was about it.

I also have sympathy for Mr. Gray, and others who have the "deck" stacked against them (regardless of the color their skin happens to be). I also have admiration for those born into less than optimal situations who choose not to make the "cesspool" their home (not speaking of physical location). I feel for the people who believe they know others (based on race) enough to speak of "white privilege" because they are blinded by their own racism. We do not choose the circumstances of our birth, but we do choose what we do with our lives.

Can't have victimhood without victims. Somebody created the culture in which they are victimized.

This cesspool was built by old, white men. Study your history.

They are victims of their teachers - those who taught them that they are victims and should cling to that status. In other words, their "advocates" are their oppressors. Study your history.

The last time I looked Baltimore was still a part of the USA. Yes it is our problem, but like everyone else I don't have an answer.
