I was pulled under the bridge by someone who wrote the following:

“...we have Baptists, who can stand up and boldly say, that neither the King James Version nor any other version of the Bible, is God’s Word.”

If they are a baptist they are in a minority. Who would say such a stupid thing.

What's Behind Curtain #2?

That poll made me feel a bit like a fish getting ready to swallow a baited HOOK!

I chose option #2 because I believe that the KJV (and any other NON-English language translation) that was translated from the correct "family" of original language manuscripts IS the Word of God as He wants us to have it in our generation. Make of that what you will...that is my "statement of faith" on this matter. I won't deviate from nor argue the matter. Just throwing in my "chit".

LOL! "In our generation" is funny. The KJV is certainly not for this generation. The NIV and other Bible translations of the last 30 plus years(a biblical generation) are much more suitable for today's generation.

This is GOOD

I'm thankful and glad to see that the other three questions on that poll have 0% of agreement here on our Baptist Board...Amen?

Bible version preference is not defined by generation. It is defined by the individual Christian and how the Lord leads him or her.

Which begs the question: How many listen to the Holy Spirit when they choose a version to read and study?

-- Which one is on special this week?
-- Which cover matches my personality? (Camo cover, pink jewels - to mention 2)
-- What does Joel Olsten use?
-- Which one has the best leather binding?
-- Which one is the most popular?
-- Which one will fit my whatever electronic gadget?

Stop by Lifeway sometime and just look at the shelves. Sales and marketing techniques are easy to spot when you know how they are used to lure so many folks to bite an apple.

What's Lifeway? When I was first saved I went to a Brentano's bookstore in the mall and bought a soft cover men's NIV...then I put tabs into it because I was never taught as a Roman Catholic where all the different gospels were. Later I went to the Wallmart & purchased

Sadly...I have to retract my previous statement!

I'm thankful and glad to see that the other three questions on that poll have 0% of agreement here on our Baptist Board...Amen?

:tear: Sadly I note that someone among us agreed with the poll's first question and does NOT believe that the KJV or any of the other versions are the Word of God. There is a fox in the henhouse. Let us hope it is just a drive-by smart-aleck that is just trying to jerk us around. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

I use the KJV and NASB.....daily.

The biggest problem in the church today is not the number of versions. It's that nobody is reading them.

King James only in English here, although I believe foreign translations from the same text would be accurate.

Well...yeah...there IS THAT! That's even worse than any kind of textual "corruption".:tear:

I would beg to differ- Reading them isn't the problem as much as NOT LIVING them is.
