Believers against the War

Which is why I supported removing the Taliban from power and running al Qaeda out of Afghanistan. Those two goals have been accomplished as the Taliban are no longer in power and there are only about 100 al Qaeda members left in Afghanistan. It is up to the Afghan government to keep the Taliban out of power, not our way overused troops. And the attacks on 9/11/2001 could have been planned anywhere and it doesn't take a whole country to recruit 20 people to carry out such attacks.

You have dropped the argument that AQ was just some fringe group hiding out in Afghanistan. That is good then.

It doesn't necessarily take a whole country to recruit 20 people, but that is where their base was. That is where bin Laden issued his declaration of war, calling on all Muslims to kill any American anywhere on earth. It is where AQ trained 1000's of terrorists.

As for pulling our troops out now, fine with me. Even Bush's worst critics admit AQ is decimated.

Embassies were useful in the days of sailing ships. Now they are mostly payoffs for political support. Close them down. Government to government communication can be done electronically.

Bring home all the troops. The EU has as large an economy as the US. Let them take their turn at saving the world
