But could a christian not suffer or even get demons if for example somebody who makes himself appear as a christian but who is not a christian lays hands on him? Isn't this the reason why we shall not allow a stranger to lay hands on us? If there was no danger then we could allow anybody to lay hands on us.
Once I read a testimony of a christian who went to a Kathryn Kuhlman event and he said he had a strange feeling with her. Later she laid hands on the people and before she came to him he prayed to God to protect him if this isn't from him and she laid her hands on him and nothing happened.

I don't see any scriptural reason why this would be so. Just the opposite. Scripture appears to suggest that a Christian, being filled with the Holy Spirit, will not even have a demon enter him.

I've never heard this before. I don't fear anyone laying hands on me, frankly.

Feelings aren't accurate indicators of what is scripturally sound. In fact, feelings aren't an accurate indicator of anything other than pain or pleasure. If we let oursleves be guided by feelings, most of us would never have come to the Lord. If scripture says something, then scripture says something, regardless of how I feel about it.

As for this topic, I think you're over-analyzing. If someone lays hands over me, and we pray together, and later on, I find out that he was a Mormon, or JW, or Christian Scientist, or whatever, then it is of no concern to me. I probably wouldn't let them do it again but if they did, it would not cause damage to my spirit whatsoever.

Well, I would be very careful when somebody wants to lay hands on me.
I have read stories where christians were laid hands on by false teachers and after that they got problems. I cannot say wether all these stories are really true but it's enough reason to be careful.

I mean no disrespect, but clearly, you're listening to rumor and gossip, and it's filling your mind with junk. This is exactly why scripture forbids us from engaging in rumor and gossip. Was mochten Sie von uns hoeren?

JohnV,

I agree with your post.

Some on this board try to demonize Rev. Hinn. It is a little like the head of the Democratic Party at election time when they say a Republican candadate for President 'will take away all your 'entitlements' and will leave the Social Security an empty coffer.'

They demonize Hinn, Copeland, and Joyce Myers because their local church have never got 'airborne' spiritually speaking and there is more than a bit of jealousy among the people of God.

By pushing some other man or woman of God down, somehow they think they are elevating their own selves as pastors or denominational leaders.

Some on the board have the 'Paul, Apollos mentality.' Carnal fighting as to which branch of the church is better than the other one.

We all have our own contribution to make in the life of the church. We should be elevating each other rather than trashing each other.

All those who believe, trust and love Jesus are one with the Lord, in spite of those who try to spread anger and mistrust among the brethren.

When is the last time you heard a message by a Baptist preacher taken from St. John 17:11 where Jesus Himself said that He wants Christians to '. . . be one, as the Godhead is one?'

Baptists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Church of the Nazarene, Methodists, Independent Evangelical kinds of church are all in this together--to break down the strongholds of evil and to elevate Jesus as the only Savior of the world [John 1:29].

I think we should separate Joyce Meyer from others. I am not sure but have got the strong impression that she was saved at least.

As for Benny Hinn, if anyone wants to defend for him, that person must present more positive evidences that Benny has healed the people truly.
So far Benny has never presented any real proof that the people allegedly healed by him were really healed, confirmed by any medical reports or any further testimony.
Benny must present the list of the people who are so-called healed, so that the people may verify it.
So far, what Benny does makes the true believers doubt about him, because his messages exalt himself, often pervert the teachings of Jesus, asking for the money, which was not the method used by disciples, which was not instructed by our Lord, having relationship with Templar Knights working against Israel and the providence of God.

Otherwise, if he cannot prove with evidences, he must have been cheating the people with magic shows, magic performances!

People fall under the 'might touch of the Holy Spirit' [Revelation 1:17 a,b] rather than your carnal concept of 'magic performances!

Any other view borders on blapheming the Holy Spirit. People should be careful . . .

I think if anyone wants more insite on people like Benny Hinn, they ought to read about Joni Eareckson Tada's experience with faith healers. But in regard to Benny Hinn specifically many people have pointed out his false prophesies and teachings which are well documented. Hank Hanegraaff has played many of the clips quoted on this board on his radio program. And the Bible is very clear about those sort of people. It is not being "judgemental" to say this, for such false teachers have already been judged by the Word of God. Maybe we all do need to pray for him, but whether or not I prayed for David Koresh, L. Ron Hubbard, or the Dali Lama does not affect my ability to discern that they are false teachers (or prophets). The test is what Scripture has to say about it, not how much good someone perceives they have done.

With that said, I have not seen the following Scripture posted (it may have), but I find it particularly apropos to this discussion, particularly verses 21-23. Even people who phophesy, cast out demons, or perform miracles in Jesus' name are not necessarily saved. (this is all I will say about this subject)

Matthew 7
15"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

16"You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?

17"So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

18"A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.

19"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20"So then, you will know them by their fruits.

21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'

23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

Millions of Hindu a year jump in the filth and pollution of the Ganges River. I have never felt particularly jealous of the numbers the river attracts, just sadness at the number of people who believe a lie.

Sorry Ray, it just seems funny that line coming from one who seems to elevate Hinn because he is into the falling over thing

Funnily enough the first time I did a grown up message was on that very passage....in a Baptist Church :D I was just talking to mum the other day about that one. Now I would change it a bit, because God also warns about false Christs, false prophets, and false teachers.

Pete,

You said, 'What about the Mormons, JWs, Branch Davidians, Muslims.....and Benny?'

Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are major cults. Dividians I think have fizzled out. Muslims are a world religion that is in error. Pastor Hinn is a Christian pastor though a controversial person

Benny Hinn and many of the Word Faith leaders such as the Copelands, Price, Tilton, Avanzini, Osteen, Savelle, Cerullo, Roberts are all heretics. The Word Faith movement is heretical just as the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.

OldRegular,

In case you have not learned yet, anyone who believes that Jesus is Divine and trusts and believe in Him for everlasting life is saved, eternally [I John 4:2; John 3:16; I John 5:12].

Revs. Copeland, Osteen, Joyce Myers, Hinn, Kennedy, Stanley and others all believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world.

The Deity of Christ is the defining doctrine as to whether a person is a Christian or not one. I too, believe that Jesus was and remains the second Person of the Godhead.

Ray, HINN, and the likes thereof, do not believe in the deity of Christ. They believe that Christ divested himself of his godhood and became a man, and remains a man. They believe that we are divine. Thus man, being divine, has the right to command God to do whatever man wants Him to do.

Take a look at this, this is Creflo Dollar riding on the same wave.

http://www.biblelight.net/Creflo-Dollar.htm

He says this:

Now I gotta hit this thing real hard in the very beginning because I ain't got time to go through all this, but I am going to say to you right now you are gods, little "g", you are gods because you came from God and you are gods. You are not just human. The only human part about you is this physical body that you live in. -- Creflo Dollar

Jesus didn't come as God, he came as a man, and he did not come perfect. Perfect in the sense that he didn't need to be added to. -- Creflo Dollar

But Jesus didn't show up perfect, he grew into his perfection. You know Jesus, in one scripture in the Bible he went on a journey, and he was tired. You better hope God don't get tired. Isaiah 50 says, 50, 60, somewhere, says where we have a God who fainteth not, neither is weary (Isa. 40:28). But Jesus did, if he came as God and he got tired, he says he sat down by the well 'cause he was tired. Boy we're in trouble. And somebody said, well, Jesus came as God. Well how many of you know the Bible says God never sleeps, nor slumbers. And yet in the book of Mark we see Jesus asleep in the back of the boat.

Now is this heretical or what?

Are these people still christians? I mean what's going on with them? Are they deceived and thinking they're doing the right thing?

I don't believe that Benny Hinn is a Christian. I believe that he is a fraud out to deceive others. He is a mulit-millionaire defrauding people of their money. His theology is contrary to the direct teaching of the Bible, even the simple plan of the salvation.

I have seen and heard Hinn say, when he is about to do the healing thing, "I am not going to even touch you. I am only going to breathe the Holy Spirit on you." Then he gave a little blow of his breath and the person fell over backwards.

Now I ask you who is it that breathes the Holy Spirit? As best as I can tell from the Bible only God breathes the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Hinn is actually claiming to be God when he does this blowing/healing thing.

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
