The reminds me of the old joke:
Baptists don't pig out, that would be the sin of gullotony.
They have times of goooood fellowship as in:
Brother Jimmy Bob Evans standing, in the pulpit of Indian Road Baptist Church, said, "We'd like to thank the sisters of Indian Road for the time of good fellowship they showed us over the lunch hour. The Cross Bottom Baptist Fellowship has never had such good fried chicken."

FYI, Jimmy Bob Evans, Indian Road Baptist Church, and Cross Bottom Baptist Fellowship are all fictional. Though, I reserve the right to use them in other illustrations.

That may be true Squire but you could ALL pig out if Kentucky brings the pork... I'll bring veggies... Brother Glen:)

Okay, this might be a dumb question; is a salt crusted roast considered as BBQ?

What exactly is the defining attribute of "BBQ"?.
Technically, I suspect it would.

Probably need at least a little Carolina mustard sauce....I'd recommend Maurice's (now that the father has passed and the children do not peddle in racism).

Visiting my brother in SC always included a trip down around Augusta area to a joint that had fantastic ribs, so, I've probably had Carolina mustard bbq.
Where?

(I live in the area and am on a mission to try all the BBQ restaurants).

    • 1/4 cup sweet paprika
    • 3 tablespoons black pepper
    • 3 tablespoons coarse salt
    • 1 tablespoon hickory-smoked salt or more coarse salt

    • 2 teaspoons onion powder
    • 2 teaspoon celery seeds

Sugar, ketchup, mustard are big nopes.

White vinegar, apple cider vinegar, red pepper, black pepper, and then something to spice it up, like some Texas Pete.

It's both a sauce for the finished product ,and a mop while the oink is cooking. Needs to be thin enough to penetrate.

Thanks. That's not too far for us (about 50 miles).

I looked at their menu online:

HALF RACK BBQ DANISH BABY BACK RIBS ................................................................. $14.95
Our slow roasted pork ribs, cooked in our special oven 'til tender
and basted with our own BBQ sauce.

FULL RACK BBQ DANISH BABY BACK RIBS ...................................................................$23.95
Our slow roasted pork ribs, cooked in our special oven 'til tender
and basted with our own BBQ sauce.

...it's not even listed as a bbq joint and appears the bbq is something other than local SC, but I can vouch that it's good eating.

[add]

...or does 'Danish' simply refer to the cut of meat?
