Opening post: // I do not think a Bible version has anything to do with salvation because that would be legalism, but do you think there is any chance at all that we could stand before the Lord one day and have to answer for our choice of Bible versions? //
1. I agree with Bible version not having anything to do with salvation.
2. as for the question of this topic, I don't think so. I've found out in life on this earth though that I'm not really sure I need to worry about God judging me in the future, I need to just learn to live with the other folks around - they Judge me right now much harsher than God will some day.
I wear my thought about Bible Version on my trailer (called a 'signature' here). I really do believe what I say. So I use lots of versions. As I've said many times, my favorite using Bible I keep nearby at all times is:
TODAY'S PARALLEL BIBLE (Zondervan 2000) which includes:
1.
KJV1873 Edition -King James Version (1873 edition)
2.
NIV1984 Edition - New International Version (1984 edition)
3.
NLT1996 Edition - New Living Translation (original 1996 edition)
4.
NASB1995 Edition - New American Standard Bible (1995 Update)
All four contain the Translator's notes. All four contain no cross references (unless per chance the translators put them there) nor commentary. (The NIV and NLT both put the OT verse(s) that are cited in the New Testament.)
My current reading/study is mainly from the NASB. But I tend to check the KJV1873 daily because I keep running into electronic variances between the KJV1611 Edition and KJV1769 Family of Editions. the KJV1873 gives a third witness to the matter at hand. How about that :tonofbricks: Maybe I should use this trailer?
