Bill Clinton: "Barack Obama is ready to be president of the United States."

"In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars."

Looks like it makes for a pretty thin resume when you break it down to the important points:

In the IL Senate BHO pushed legislation for a state Earned Income Tax Credit.

Likewise he pushed through an expansion of the Early Childhood Education program, which meant that the state had to increase taxes to pay for this new program resulting in the state taking back a big chunck of what the people saved from the new Earned Income Tax Credit.

Finally, he pushed through legislation that required police to video tape confessions in capital cases. Cool, we all want to make sure justice is carried out correctly.

Notice that BHO website does tell you how he was opposed to the Infant Born Alive Protection Act. I wonder why?

The first sentence, quoted above, in the paragraph about BHO's US Senate service means that he did what exactly?

Then he pushed legislation that made it possible for us to go on-line and see how our tax dollars are spent. Cool. I like that idea.

What does being the "lead voice" in calling for something (anything) in the US Senate mean? What did he accomplish by doing so?

Then he worked to bring reforms to the VA. This is great our Veterans deserve the best possible care during and following their years of service.

Then he went on a taxpayer funded trip to Russia to talk about nukes. What came out that trip? Did it stop the threat of nuke proliferation?

And finally he bought into the lie of Man-made Global Warming. But did he actually do anything that would help us move away from purchasing oil form nations that hate us (Muslim nations)? Did he actually do anything that would help increase the production of domestic US oil while we work out new technologies to replace the use of oil? Nope.

Like I said a very thin resume for a man that is seeking the highest office in the US.

I think it is a great resume.

You do know Ken that some are going to use everything to attack Obama regardless of what the facts are. They are just like their mentors, Limbaugh and Hannity. They believe this is the right way to conduct themselves concerning Obama, and nothing anyone says will change this.

I know, dragonfly. That is a major reason why the GOP is in such a state of decline. The Pubs are basically just aginners. The Pubs are offering no new ideas, no ways to move our nation forward. The Pubs are stuck in the 1980s.

That is a great question. Throughout the entire Democratic Primary process the continual argument against BHO from the likes of Hillery Clinton, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, John Edwards etc. was that he did not have the experience and leadership qualifications to be President. They consistantly pointed out that BHO was just not ready to lead, he was not ready to be President.

Now all of a sudden he is ready. How did that happen over night?

Don't forget to add McCain to this list of nay sayers... Which is why I'm surprised with his VP selection. Looks like a majority of American's don't feel comfortable with her answering the 3AM call...

Two terms from 1996-2004 constitues a "long time" for you? Likewsie, look at his voting record. Voting "present" most of time does not really paint a clear picture of what he stands for and how he showed leadership in the IL Senate.

Sen Obama has exactly the same experience as Abraham Lincoln. Two terms in the Illinois state senate and first term US senate. Seem to be sufficient for Abe...

I'm sorry you guys were not able to answer a few honest questions I raised about BHO; rather, you chose to attack the person with the opposing view. Nice.

Despite the nature or content of the legislation he pushed through, in each case you admitted he was successful at putting through legislation.

A fantastic speech by President Clinton tonight. The Democrats are now on a roll against the Republicans. It's about time. Let's take our country back from George W. Bush and John S. McCain III and their favoritism toward the wealthy.
Yeah let's take it back from the globalists in the republican party and give it back to the globalists in the democratic party! Woo Hoo!

Well as a Southerner... (no just kidding  )

Sincerely,

I saw Al Gore make this same appeal at the DNC. I'll say the same thing here that I said as I watched big Al. Granted Abe Lincoln had limited political experience prior to becoming POTUS. However, the proof is in the pudding. Let's compare their voting records. I'm pretty sure Abe's record is not made up of a bunch of "present" votes. Abe was not afraid to take a stand for what he believed. Likewise, Abe did not receive his political mentoring from a self-professed Communist or have any of the other personal association bagage of BHO. In short Abe Lincoln's experience shows that he was a man of wisdom and good judgment, BHO's experience does not reflect the same wisdom and good judgment.

So you saying McCain had good judgment when almost sank his carrier killing fellow seaman? How about when he was engaged to his current wife while still married to the first? What about the with Bush 90% voting record? I think we all make bad choices. The real questions is did we learn from our mistakes. I seem to sense a double standard when you say it was good enough for Abe but not for Barak but hey, he wasn't getting your vote either way.

As for the voting present, many call that brilliant for someone seeking the oval office. 1 wrong vote would be haunting his dream today. He is not allowed to make mistakes (see your previous post about bad judgment).

Remember this thread is about BHO. If you want to discuss issues surrounding McCain please feel free to start a new thread on that topic, but please don't try to cover for BHO by diverting the focus here.

"Some" would be wrong. The man was elected to represent his constituents. However, according to you he put his political interests above those of the people. Is that the kind of leader you want?

Likewise, did he indeed learn from his poor choices regarding his personal association with known Socialists, Marxists, Communists, radical Anti-American terrorists, slum lords, racists, and anti-Semites? If so why does he still associate with them?

It looks like it has become a DNC talking point.
