Once you were for a Libertarian who was trying to pose as a Republican.

I apologize for the confusion. I have been a libertarian since 1980 and a Libertarian Party member off and on during that time.

Barr’s path to victory

This is a very interesting scenario:

"This is a crazy election year. I have said it before that a big mistake that people make in politics is assuming that the future will be like the past. Sometimes it is; sometimes it isn’t.

...

McCain is the weakest Republican nominee since Alf Landon.

The Democrats could name Hillary and walk into the White House but they’ve apparently decided to shoot themselves in the foot and name a complete unknown, extreme liberal as their nominee. No one really knows where the Obama thing will go. He has gotten a free ride from the media and therefore the normal vetting process simply has not occurred. His most recent gaffe on controlling our diets could alone sink him.

Nader will get some votes from Obama as well, particularly if Obama fades.

With five candidates in the race, the magic number for winning the popular vote drops to about 32%.

First, Barr needs to get the endorsement of Ron Paul and try to get the Revolution behind him.

...

Step two is to convince conservatives and Republicans of the obvious fact that McCain is a dead man walking. That way, you turn the wasted vote argument upside down. The wasted vote here is the “major” party. As more and more Republicans become convinced of this, McCain’s poll numbers will shrink and Barr’s will rise.

...

If Barr can pass McCain in the polls, he becomes the challenger to Obama and McCain will continue to fade away.

...

So let’s say that step three is that Obama implodes when people start to grow tired of the empty rhetoric and the constant verbal gaffes.

As I suggested in my various Ron Paul analyses, Barr needs to outflank Obama from the left and right at the same time. Outflank him from the right on taxes and spending and global warming – the sleeper issue–and from the left on the Iraq War and the drug war. Barr should campaign in the black community and present a positive alternative to the liberal Democratic policies that have devastated their communities for 75 years and that Obama promises to continue and even intensify.

Will this happen? Probably not. It is impossible? No, not in this crazy year."

Only to cause aggravation for the GOP Establishment.
Did you not say a couple months ago that you were going to vote for someone who has a chance to win, and would not vote for someone (Paul) who has no chance? Barr's chances are zip and none.

But wasn't this "complete unknown" the same one who you were throwing your support behind and planning to vote for this year? Wasn't a picture of his bumper sticker right next to your name?

First is was "vote for Ron Paul - he's the man." Then, "vote for Obama - he's the man." Now it's "vote for Bob Barr - he's the man." Does this sound a little confusing to anyone else?

Especially since it is one extreme to the other and back.

That statement is no longer operative.

Also, I disagree with your assessment of Barr's chances. We'll find out on November 4. :)

1) Yes; however, that statement is no longer operative.

2) Not if you don't make me the issue. I have never understood the fascination that some people in this forum have about me.

Surly Ken even you don't really think Barr could win the election in November!

Yes, I do, dragonfly. I really don't believe that on November 4 that most limited government folks will turn their backs on their principles and vote for Senator JSM III.

Ron Zeigler was President Nixon's Press Secretary from 1969-1974. He is famous for uttering the sentence ""This is the operative statement. The others are inoperative" on April 17, 1973.

I really, really, really hope that McCain is elected. I want a Republican to take all the blame for all the failed policies of the GOP. Make no mistake: we are getting ready to have a bad economy for a while.

In other words, you've simply changed your mind... again.
