All I say is 'good for them'.
This could give their marriage atleast a chance of a better start - one where they can move out and be independent.
I'm praying that things go well for them and that they make wise choices and that this relationship can work. It's not going to be easy but they do have supportive families.

There is a big difference at the moment. Bush has an 8 year track record. Obama is not yet president. There probably were a few Bush haters when he took office. He earned the disliking of many through the drastic mistakes his administration made while during office.
With Obama, who, as I said, is not president yet, there are many, at least on this BB, that hated him before he was elected, hate him more because he was elected and are not honest enough to wait until he has a track record to make a judgement.
I do not hate Bush, but I am very critical of many of his decisions the last eight years. One area where I believe he did a good job was with his AIDS initiative toward Africa.
Personally I believe Bush would be a very likeable person. Also, from a few things I have read, he is very kind toward his staff if there is a problem within their family, say an illness, a death, or whatever. I find that admirable. But that does not make him a good president. A kind person toward those he meets, yes, but not a good president.
I am reserving judgement on Obama until he has at least two years in office. So far I think he is doing a good job in the people he is picking for his cabinet. That is a start, but it is not a track record to judge yet.

But that is different from hate directed toward a person simply because they defeated other candidate. We should at least wait until there is a track record before casting stones at this point.

I think for this to be a Christian board, we throw the term "HATE" around too casually ..........it is on the border of obscenity!
If each of us thought about HATE = KILL, would we use this word so much? Would we accuse those who oppose us so quickly as HATING us?????????????? Would we accuse those who support a candidate or oppose a candidate as HATING them???????????? We use that word so casually that it looses its meaning or else we just might as well confess that we are all HATE MONGERERS and our membership does not belong on a Baptist nor any other Christian board for that matter.
Those who opposed Bush had their reasons. Those who opposed Obama had theirs. We all have the right to believe what we want to believe whether it is truth and fact or fears and uncertainties or lies. We all have a right to challenge each other with the facts..... But facts are just that......... something observable, reported, or measurable..... or akin to that..... expressed opinion and theory (which is not 'fact') based upon that which we already know and that which our experience tells us to surmise.
WE ARE ALL LIARS if we say we have love one to another because we are Christians, and then keep using the 4 letter word HATE as though it belongs in our vocabulary to use against each other and in the sight of God. Likewise we should also be careful how we use that 4 letter word in our homes, work place, with friends or with strangers. I know a lot of 4 letter words which this board would ban, but for the life of me....... the hearing of them bothers me less than hearing Christians accuse each other of HATE because they disagree and particularly around such foolishness as politics.

Well it is truly an intimidating position to be in disagreement with you, and temper what I say with the knowledge that I have an immense amount of respect for you.
But I don't know what else to call gossip that questions a professed sister in Christ's giving. I don't know what else could inspire such garbage. When I read CTB's O/P, I wanted to cry. Talk like that can only have evil inspiration and evil intent.

How is this thread any different than a thread that trumpeted the drug arrest of a the father's mother? That was deemed to be news, and this not?
I don't think this is all that newsworthy, but it is unquestionably more of a news item than that was, because this girl was at least to some degree a public figure, and the story is not prurient, however unfortunate the circumstances might have been.
I haven't seen any real attacks here. Questioning whether or not someone should tithe doesn't seem to be particularly egregious. (The answer is "no." They should do way more than tithe with this amount of money.)
Perhaps we need a serious consideration of what "news" is ...
