Okay, let me clarify...first, we have no idea if Eschelon even exists. Secondly Bush has admitted lying about requiring warrants. So at the very least Bush expanded the program beyond Eschelon, which was only international traffic. Now it seems ALL traffic is monitored. Big surprise there.

First - it is well known that the program exists. In simplist terms software listens for key words in phone conversations or looks for key words in emails. When the key words are found a live person listens in to the phone call or reads the emails.

Sencond - the courts recently decided that this is LEGAL without a warrant.

As I said, a little knowledge goes a long way.
