I looked at the website. It seems that your information originally came from the author of that website. Thus it really doesn't matter whether it is on your hard-drive or on the website, copied and pasted. They are not your words, and credit must be given. There is an obvious copyright law. It is his work. He obviously wants his work to be credited. To not give credit is unethical.
On the sheets that he passed out it said that he did not need to be cited and was not copywrite...I would love to get a hold of some of his other articles if anyone knows how to get them!

It doesn't matter. You can't quote someone else's work as your own.
That still is unethical and wrong.
You must give credit to everything you post.
You normally give reference to Scripture you quote don't you. :)

True! His articles are the only ones I shared...wish I could find more! He backs everything up with scripture!

The policy of Baptist Board:
I've noticed the growing habit of posting whole articles on various forums.

Please do not post copyrighted or trademarked material without first obtaining the express permission to do so by the copyright or trademark holder.

Post only a summary (or key paragraph) and a link to the article instead. It is acceptable to quote other people's work so long as you credit them by name, include the title of the work, and do not repost the entire article.

When you say "he obviously wants credit" you must be trying to read his mind

It is copyrighted, and may "provisionally" be used:
providing you state clearly that the writing originates from ...

Credit must be given. Read the Copyright page.

Then read the copyright policy of this board.

DHK...
It says clearly in post 65 that it is ((NOt))) copywrighted...
First, I don't know where you are quoting from. It is unethical to quote without giving your source. :)
If we are talking about the same thing I am referring to the same site that Awaken was originally accused of taking her material from.

But more importantly, copyrighted or not, one cannot post something and pretend it is their work, when it is not. I have many works, papers, etc., that are not copyrighted. That doesn't give me the right to copy their words as my own. I must give credit where credit is due. That is exactly what the Bible says.

Again, you are right! I should have given credit to the writer! But I did not get the paper from that sight! That sight got it from the same source or Root's website. Root's website did not have a copywrite...he wants us to share his material. Our teacher got permission from him personally. Now can we get back to discussing hearing from God!

If this is the website in question that is not true.
http://www.precious-testimonies.com/Exhortations/u-z/VoiceOfGod.htm
Precious Testimonies
How to Hear the Voice of God by Dave Root.

On this same page, at the bottom is a link to copyright information:
Regarding the above three permission grantals, all we request is that the wording and punctuation of each document is not altered in any way without express written permission from the individual author and/or originating ministry of the writing.
Quotes of any writing on our website are permitted without contacting us, providing the quotes are not taken out of context of the intended meaning of the entire writing being quoted from.

It sounds fairly clear.
