Turning back - apostatizing - is simply turning away from a previously held truth. At some point, you were convinced of this truth and then you consciously turned your back on that truth.
Yes, I know what apostasy means. :D

I am a firm proponent of the security of the believer. Even those who are said to "fall away" from the truth are still saved.
That is what I was looking for. A clear and unambiguous statement that nothing we can do will remove us from the Father's hand. So far that seemed to be missing from the thread. :)

I agree in the eternal security of the believer and what some on here don't realize is that according to the doctrines of grace those embraced in that eternal security can NEVER be lost... To get to one of Gods loving tokens of grace you would have to overthrow the Godhead... And as powerful as some say Satan is... He was defeated at the Cross of Christ and NEVER will any of Gods precious children EVER eternally fall into his hands... Brother Glen

So you have proof positive that your theory of eschatology is true in order to call someone else's false?
Several sources convinced me about the extremely unscriptural pre-trib doctrine.
Please note:
Today's horrible persecution of Christians in other countries
cannot be attributed to the antichrist, who has yet to be revealed.

I think the question is, does such turning back equate to losing salvation or just losing rewards in heaven?
Many NT passages teach that one may lose eternal life.
I have just prepared a thread re: the author of Hebrews
writing about believers drawing back to perdition (hell).

They convince you and therefore your opinion gives you the right to call it false while you cannot prove it false

When angels rejoice over the sinner that repents, what would be the point if that sinner lost their soul after a moments tribulation and temptation.

Sorry to hit and run but I am going through my own difficulties at the moment.

Perfect love casts out fear, once you have known that perfect love in Christ, nothing will separate you from the love of God.

It's a done deal when your saved. It's the whole point of being saved.

Although, there is much ambiguity here on earth.

Much more to say on this matter.

As sinners though ... the thought that we can never be lost can lead to problems, like what's the point in being holy etc etc.

Fear God who alone has authority to cast into Gehenna.

Backsliding is a possibility for the Christian, he who shrinks back etc etc.

I personally do not think that a true born again believer can be lost.

That has to be the funniest statement I have ever read on the Internet.

If you lost it, it was not eternal! LOL!

I agree.. I am God I change not (therefore) ye sons of Jacob are not consumed... The eternal God and Father Christ Jesus purchased and bought with his sinless life's blood his fallen children on the Cross... After all his suffering and sacrifice he will lose one?... You reading a different Bible?... Brother GlenUnsure

Those worried, is it not a good reason to seek God's mercy. :)

His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Psalm 147.

This is the funniest and most ridiculous statement ever. It is akin to saying that physical death proves you were never alive

LOL! No, it's not. "Eternal" means "forever." If your spiritual life did not last forever it was not eternal. :)

Confused Semantics
Eternal life is conditional.
It is conditional, just as Canaan

Look at yourself @TCassidy
Will you endure to the end?
Do you have eternal life?

You can't lose what you don't have.

Have you ever lost a billion dollars? No? Why not? Because you never had a billion dollars.

If you have given your life to Christ you no longer have it. He has it. And if He has it, you don't have it so you can't lose it. And He will never lose even one whom the Father has given to Him.

No, words mean things.Eternal life is eternal. It is eternal. If it is not eternal it is not eternal life.
Eternal life is conditional. It is a conditional gift

Be very careful of questioning my salvation. It is a banning offense.
Be very careful misreading me; nobody is questioning (disputing) your salvation, just probing. Do you have it or not?
Or better, do you think you have eternal life?

If you were given a billion dollars on condition you don't remarry after the demise of your spouse, you lose/forfeit it once you remarry

Be very careful with this line of questioning.
