The evangelical Christian college in Greene County, east of Dayton, is hosting the G92 Immigration Conference, headlined by a list of high-profile evangelicals.

Most white evangelicals didn’t support the civil-rights movement 50 years ago, and today’s white evangelicals find that regrettable, [Cedarville University VP Carl] Ruby said. He doesn’t want evangelicals to feel the same way about the immigration issue someday.

Keynote speakers:

Jim Wallis of Sojourners
SBC official Richard Land
Rev. Eve Nunez of Phoenix

Why shouldn't we support immigrants? My ancestors were immigrants...

(I accidently had a brain burp, I started to write my descendents are immigrants... LOL)

When a stranger knocks, I don't ask for identification. I pray over them, feed them, whatever I can do because they are worth the blood of Jesus. Love does not care about legality.

Well then, be sure and remove all the locks off of your doors and windows so anyone who wants to can enter your home anything they feel like it. Do not forget to place a sign out front of your door that anyone can enter at their leisure.

I don't see the civil rights movement and the immigration issue as being a valid comparison. The CRM was about changing laws and societal values that were based on racism. The II is not about immigrants, per se, but illegal immigrants.

Legal immigrants are one thing. Our current Illegal Criminal Invasion is another. To liberal politicians this all translates to future votes.

When are we going to start putting America first? This Evangelical Christian College in Greene County needs to consider stepping up to the plate and paying for the cost of clean up. Of course, they won't touch the cost involved as that burden will be placed on the backs of the tax-payers.

Yes, they are tax-payers also but how much more "tax" can the average person pay when they are unemployed, have lost their homes, used up all their unemployment insurance, etc.?

Our nation is coming apart at the seams.

Actually, white evangelicals WERE those that were fully suppoting the Civil Rights for Black American, its just that a solid majority of Deomocrats from the South, and some church leaders, were ones opposomg it!

Think CORRECT term would those those of the Left/Liberal side of Evangelicalism supporting this!

We are for legal immigration, BUT need to enforce fully the laws on illegal aspects of it, is NOT cruel/non Christian, just fllowing the law of the land, as per the Apostle paul in Romans!

We are said to be un Christlike in this and many other social agendas, but the truth is that we have to realise that its mainly due to the Church taking its moral standard from society, NOT the Bible itself!

The only reason some immigrants are considered illegal is because of a status conferred to them by the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1978. If Congress had desired to remove that status, or had never put it in place, we wouldn't be having to deal with the illegal part of immigration.

I'm all for people obeying the powers over them and when I am ask by someone I say that it is their Christian obligation to obey the powers that be, including returning to their home country if they are here illegally. That said I am also all for developing a just pathway for allowing many of our current status illegals a means of gaining citizenship.

The hope of America has always been in her ability to welcome those who are seeking a new beginning. We still are that beacon to people throughout the world. China doesn't offer it. No other country offers it. Just here. Thus we need to be charitable in finding ways and means to aid those who are immigrants.

AMEN!...

The Blood of Jesus wasn't just shed for Americans.. But for all..
We complain when God sends us people to minster too..

When we get to Heaven Jesus isn't going to buy the excuse, "they didn't have the right paperwork"...

God help American nationalists that put American principles in front of Kingdom Principles.. This country is going down.. God's kingdom will forever stand!...

Choose you this day the King you will serve.. the constitution and congress, or the King of Kings.. that says when you feed a stanger (no strings attached) you are doing it to him.. Matt. 25.. and commands us in his word to treat foreigners the same as native born....

All you American nationalists that thinks that patriotism will gain you one bit of respect with God make me sick...

No wonder God isn't blessing America.. Americans are rich, greedy, and don't care about the other people in the world that are suffering.. .

Turn a person away that is in need.. and you will be judged for it..

Have You Been to Inner City Skidrows Recently???

Turn a person away that is in need.. and you will be judged for it...

I do not disagree with this statement. Nor do I disagree with your view of America and it being rich and greedy. It's just that you forgot to mention that not only is this nation filled with rich, greedy folks, but it is filled to the brim, and overflowing with corruption.

We are seeing the kind of greed and corruption that has put millions of hard-working Americans out of work, permanently, in most cases. The kind of greed and corruption that have caused the American dream of owning a home on Main Street out on the street.

Greed and corruption has bailed out banks and American auto makers, but, not lifted a finger to keep Americans working, and under the roofs of homes they have lived in for most of their lives.

That said, I just can't see how you and you and our elected officials can justify giving the very shirt off-the-back of Americans who are in the front of that line of suffering, hungry and impoverished people???

A nation that doesn't fix its own problems shouldn't and can't be expected to help fix the problems of other nations and people if they neglect their own, and at this time in history, our nation is turning a deaf ear to its very own people each time they pass "Dream Act" bills and Amnesty laws.

You really mean well TT. I have heard you impassioned pleas and words in past posts, and I don't disagree with you. It's just that with our nation being in a position that is far worse than it was during the great depression, well, I think you have your priorities mixed up. .

Again, you are right about this nation being judged, but it won't be for being niggardly and tightfisted. It will be for forgetting its own citizens by not enforcing the laws established by our forefathers. Immigration laws were put in place for a reason. And that reason was to make sure our resources were not overwhelmed and our borders over-ran by people who have decided that they want to live here, even it it means breaking laws and regulations.

We have been so generous with our nations wealth and welfare, especially when it comes to illegal immigrants. However, while we've been more than hospitable, we have totally turned our back on those who should be the first to receive the aid and charity being doled out.

I know you will disagree with me, so save yourself and your fingertips the time and energy of responding. We all know your position. I just had to toss in my two cents.

Thanks for letting me rebut your views. We are just on different sides of the border line, so-to-speak!

Shalom,

Pastor Paul

When are we going to start putting America first?

Putting America first and people second? I have a hard time gleaning that from scripture. Where do we get the idea that Americans should place their countrymen above any other people who need help?

The amount of money or time or anything else Tim has given or not given has nothing to do with the truth of his statement.

I believe his point is that too many Christians care more for themselves and their country that they do in reaching the lost.

That is not true. They crossed the border illegally. They did so without proper authorization. That is why.

....Another member of this board who is seriously confused in their priorities and the application of the Word to this highly inflammable topic.

Helping the lost, and giving illegal aliens a hand up is two separate issues!

And like Arbo asked: Have you given away all your wealth to help those who are illegally here, stealing from our own impoverished, unemployed, underemployed citizens? If you have, then you definitely have every right to make the claims, you make. If, you still cling to a home, job, wealth, savings account, full pantry, nice car(s), closet of clothes, medical insurance coverage, etc., well, you are like the white man who the Indian says speaks with a "forked tongue!
