Can't one be healed by his own faith in Christ's blood? Why should he seek elders to pray for his healing?
The passage is in context of the sick person receiving medicine of that time, and to also been confessed and restored to full fellowship with God!

My personal opinion is that if anyone has ever been healed it was a work of God. But I am not advocating my position, just stating it.
Do you see the gift of healing as Apostles displayed among us today?

Does God heal today? If yes, on what basis does God heal? Do christians have to depend only on doctors or people like t.b.joshua for healing?
You may post your opinion.
Yes God does heal those who ask for healing. Though I have to admit not all the time. God has His reasons for not healing some. I do not believe that healing depends on the persons faith. I've known some who were healed and didn't have any faith. Miracles happen all the time. I've heard of faith healers and what cons they can be.I have no respect for them at all. It isn't man that heals but God and only God. If you're praying for someones healing always remember it's not by our will but God's will anyone is healed and He alone deserves the credit.

God will do with us what He sees best for us at the time, and many times what He knows is best clashes with our short term vision!

1. The spoken gifts of prophicy have been done away. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10. James 1:17.
2. James 5:16.
3. 1 John 5:14-15.

So has the Apostolic gift to heal also!
Yes, since
John who wrote the books John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and Revelation, was the last living Apostle. Noting Ephesians 2:19-20, the foundation of Christ's church has since been laid.

The gifts of healing is yet one of the gifts of the Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12. Less the spoken gifts of prophecy, 1 Corinthians 13:8-10, James 1:17, James 1:25.

Revival is gone...
Healing is gone....
Miracles are gone...
Spiritual gifts are no more...

What is left? To fall in a heavy sleep and slumber in a cut and dry church service? Oh... I get it... Maybe we can all turn out like John Calvin who would execute his opponents and then go on to say stuff like....

"Whoever shall maintain that wrong is done to heretics and blasphemers in punishing them makes himself an accomplice in their crime and guilty as they are. There is no question here of man's authority; it is God who speaks, and clear it is what law he will have kept in the church, even to the end of the world. Wherefore does he demand of us a so extreme severity, if not to show us that due honor is not paid him, so long as we set not his service above every human consideration, so that we spare not kin, nor blood of any, and forget all humanity when the matter is to combat for His glory." - John Calvin

Have you ever read "Religious Affections" by Jonathan Edwards? He was an instrumental person God used to spark the Great Awakening in the American Colonies. It's very much worth reading. For a summary, you can read
An Overview of the Religious Affections: 12 No-Signs and 12 True Signs which will provide a basic concept.

You will find that Edwards does not say healing is gone, miracles are gone and spiritual gifts are no more.

You should also note that you are clueless regarding John Calvin as a person. Instead you have stormed in with an obvious bias and short quotes with no context.

It would be better if you actually read what people wrote rather than look for reasons to hate them without ever having actually read their writings.

I am a Reformed Baptist and I believe all the gifts are actively being given by God to his adopted children so that they might be ambassadors in a foreign land. I believe that God gives these gifts not only to reveal himself to this rebellious world, but also to encourage his children and bring them into community with each other and with God himself. There is nothing incompatible with Calvinism and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As with all gifts of the Spirit, it is important to read the owners manual (Scripture) and discern between demonic imitations and Holy Spirit expressions. Thus, I encourage you to read Jonathan Edwards account of the Great Awakening and his discernment regarding the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they were revealed in the Great Awakening.

I was brought up in Christian conference Baptist and continued Pentecostal Holines and I know where we once were. The revivals and conferences were many. When we weren't in Christian conference our culture was one in which I would describe as Wesleyan.

1. Work hard Monday through Friday
2. Wednesday night service
3. Friday night fun and fellowship.... Somewhere!
4. Town Saturday morning in a family atmosphere
5. Prayer meeting Saturday night
6. Church Sunday mornings
7. Friends and family Sunday afternoon
8. Church Sunday night with meetings very much Spirit filled.
9. Our pastor would anoint people with oil and pray with them,

Most church services these days are only Sunday morning and the people have become worldly minded. We got a pastor in which I have had people describe him as an unfriendly guy and I agree with them. If there is cessationalism and a lack of healing it is because people have not continued in the bible way with hearts hardened in unbelief. In which, in such environments, God cannot get a blessing in there edgewise!

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. - Matthew 17

Good Friday.... A day of suffering.....

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. - Isaiah 53:5

No, just stating that those sign gifts operating among people ceased after Apostolic Age!

All you have to do is look at the pathetic miracles charismatic healers are claiming today. Compare them to the accounts of Pentecost and it becomes clear, the gifts have ceased. I'm open, but the case for historical cessationism is solid. The gifted people at Pentecost were in your face with genuine incontrovertible miracles. Today, no one is even claiming miracles like these. They're doing second-rate miracles easily duplicated by magicians and stage hypnotists.

And you're right, there's a difference between miracles (which I believe still happen) and gifted individuals.

Every time there is any serious attempt to look into and document cases of healing, none of them really stand up to evidence of proof!
