I was brought up in Christian conference Baptist and continued Pentecostal Holines and I know where we once were. The revivals and conferences were many. When we weren't in Christian conference our culture was one in which I would describe as Wesleyan.
1. Work hard Monday through Friday
2. Wednesday night service
3. Friday night fun and fellowship.... Somewhere!
4. Town Saturday morning in a family atmosphere
5. Prayer meeting Saturday night
6. Church Sunday mornings
7. Friends and family Sunday afternoon
8. Church Sunday night with meetings very much Spirit filled.
9. Our pastor would anoint people with oil and pray with them,
Most church services these days are only Sunday morning and the people have become worldly minded. We got a pastor in which I have had people describe him as an unfriendly guy and I agree with them. If there is cessationalism and a lack of healing it is because people have not continued in the bible way with hearts hardened in unbelief. In which, in such environments, God cannot get a blessing in there edgewise!
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. - Matthew 17
