You've totally missed it, went over your head like a red tailed hawk. See post #9, you really should catch up by reading before butting in blind.
I am not the one trying to use mark 16, Acts 2 and peter to prove baptismal regeneration my friend.

If you do not believe in baptismal regeneration. Then you pretty much wasted your time and mine trying to preach it up with those passages.

You evangelicals have so gommed up the word 'saved' that you always use it in the eternal sense, i.e., saved = going to heaven, or, saved from hell...when it is not the intent from the context.

To you it must always always mean going to heaven, or, saved from hell.

Still can’t explain it, can you? To you 'saved' must always always mean going to heaven, or, saved from hell. You've gommed the word up as have most today.

As I said, it went over your head like a red-tailed hawk.

Interesting thread, but I think everyone has missed the elephant in the room--the SBC. I cannot imagine the SBC permitting a church that baptizes infants to remain in fellowship with them.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned. Mk 16

So you would accept this paraphrase rendering?:

He that believeth and is baptized of the Spirit shall be saved from hell....
-----------------------------------------------------------------
40 And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.
41 They then that received his word were baptized: and there were added unto them in that day about three thousand souls. Acts 2

How do you make 'Save yourselves from this crooked generation' from the temporal to the eternal sense?

'Send yourselves to heaven from this crooked generation'...? Something like that?

Paraphrase that for me if you would.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
21 which also after a true likeness doth now save you, even baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ; 1 Pet 3

'Saved' from what? The eternal flame?

That doctrine not in the bible

Saved from the Wrath to come upon all who denied Jesus as Lord and Savior

Some scripture would have capped that off nicely. :)

Concerning the 'wrath to come', of which baptism was an integral part of escaping for the Jew, it came upon 'that generation' contemporary with Christ, John the Baptist, and the apostles:

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
10 And even now the axe lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Mt 3

23 Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished. Lu 21
