It's not tied to that

It's not tied to that particular group. The flag is not owned, trademarked or copyrighted. That particular group only adopted it as their flag.

In the Churches I've been to it is used as a symbol of general Christianity and as a symbol that unites different denominations.

Some Churches even have a pledge that they use on it. I can't recall the exact words, I never learned it.
All churches I have attended use the flag as well. I'm just not convinced that it is appropriate (or inappropriate).

Us Southern Baptists had another flag....but we don't fly that one anymore. :Biggrin

The church should address social issues

The church is to spread the gospel. That is its mission, as well as caring for its members.

Now, the influence of Christians can have a salient impact for the good of society, but it is a by-product of preaching the gospel of Christ.

It is certainly not a "hill to die on." Can be a good discussion topic, though. :Biggrin
How one believes a Christian flag should or shouldn't be displayed is not a matter taught in the word of God. But making it some kind of idolatry could be problematic. Our salvation being a free gift should be totally unrelated.

Agreed. 2 Kings 18:4 He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan.

So do you think "Baptist" churches are making the Christian flag use to be some kind of idolatry? Seriously?

The flag by pledge represents "one nation under God." How is that idolatry?

The United States can be called a religious nation. It, nor any nation, cannot be called a Christian nation, as there are few Christians, as Christ Himself said.

you know if you are going to talk about something you should have a full understanding about it. On this topic you are either being obtuse or ignorant. That phrase refers to its founding not the number of Christian’s.

Our Church does have an American flag and Christian flag on display. The youth say pledges to each. The American flag is in the prominent position on the speakers right.

My preference would be to have neither. Or at least have the Christian flag in the prominent position. Is our allegiance to the U S flag, Christian flag, or Christ?

I know I'm in the minority on this, but then I'm the guy that finds the song "Old Rugged Cross" idolatrous.

And I love that old cross
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
I will cling to the old rugged cross
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true

To it sounds like worshiping the cross more than the Christ.

I don't know anyone who agrees.
