Christians should be armed

Thanks to you. The word "should" means "ought to" and not that they will. The future looks bleak both domestically and internationally. Big cities like Indianapolis are not safe day or night. Russia & China & the numerous Muslim states want to destroy the USA. The USA is weak militarily and economically.
All are secular arguments in support of violence by Christians. We are commanded to be different from the world.

For the Christian, the future always looks bright if we are focused on the coming resurrection and Kingdom of God. We are citizens of heaven first, and seek to follow kingdom principles rather than worldly principles.

Peace to you

Where do you get that? Men will wax worse and worse at the world comes to an end. Don't believe the social justice warriors and the Christian Marxists and the Gospel Coalition.

So you think “rid them out of the hand of the wicked” means Christians are suppose to use violence to protect the innocent from murder? I am going to disagree.

You have not answered my question. Please try to answer yes or no.

Do you believe Christians are suppose to use violence to protect the innocent (unborn babies) from murder (ab$rtion)

There have been some that have used your kind of logic to justify this kind of violence. I believe such thinking is contrary to Christian teachings. What do you think?

Peace to you
If they carry weapons, I cannot see how they can be Christians.

Luke 22:36 He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.

How can you be a Christian if you refuse to obey Jesus who said go buy a weapon?

So, every Christian should own a cloak and a sword?

When Peter attempted to protect the innocent (Jesus) from murder, Jesus told him to put the sword away.

Are you going to refuse to obey Jesus who said put your weapon away?

Peace to you

Uh no, this is a severe mishandling of scripture. Jesus did not tell all Christians to put your weapons away which is what you are trying to dishonestly portray here. This kind of post is out of the norm for you. I am quite surprised.

Why didn't you attempt a real answer to Jesus instructing his followers to carry weapons, even if they have to sell something to raise the money? You got nothing so you decided to mock Jesus with your comment about a cloak? Doesn't it mean anything to you that Peter, part of Jesus' small inner-circle for three years, had a sword?

You deliberately misrepresenting Jesus' instruction to Peter to put away the sword. For shame! Be a man. Be a Christian. Go buy a gun. Self-defense is a constitutional and divine right. Defending the innocent is an obligation.

Paul told Christians to pray for Caesar, a great persecutor of the Church.
Tertullian said they prayed for Caesar.

Luke 22:38 The disciples said they had 2 swords. Jesus said “That is enough”

If Jesus wanted all Christians to be armed, why would he tell the 12 disciples that 2 swords would be enough?

1 Timothy 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

You cold pray for the president to die and go to Hell, and it would meet the criteria of what Paul said.

No, you could not. Such prayers are evil. That would be an obvious distortion of Paul’s intention.

I was attempting to demonstrate the distortion of the logic used in post 45.

You are right, of course, and I think both are a distortion what was being taught.

I should have made my point clear. As always, thanks for the input.

For the record, I’m not opposed to anyone protecting themselves or others.

Im opposed to blanket statements that all Christians should be armed to out using violence to protect the innocent.

Peace to you

Well the obvious answer was that Peter cut off he servants ear. God is sovereign and it was in his plan that Jesus could heal the ear.

Foolish post. Christians don't do that when they pray, or maybe you so called Baptists do.

No all Christians should not be necessarily armed

I agree. Jesus said what they had was enough. They only needed the one to cut off the ear.

I understand that some see scripture as demanding pacifism on the part of Christians. Christians, they say, shouldn’t serve in the military or work as police officers or any profession that might require violence toward another, even if legally justified.

I believe it unwise to question someone’s salvation if they differ on this question. Let all be satisfied in their own minds before God.

Peace to you

Sargent (Alvin) York was a conscientious objector at first. Many lives were saved by his reconsidering his earlier position. At times, the use of force is necessary and not forbidden by God. For those who do not believe in the responsible use of force when appropriate, his story is a good one to consider.
