We left off on the Translation of Genea in This Generation.

Is it Race or Generation?

Ill let John, reinstate his point on this, since he started C&P the first thread.

"In Matthew 24:34 "this generation shall not pass (namely, the Jewish race, of which the generation in Christ's days was a sample in character; compare Christ's address to the generation, Matthew 23:35-36, in proof that generation means at times the whole Jewish race) until all these things be fulfilled," a prophecy that the Jews shall be a distinct people still when He shall come again."

Fausset

Matthew 23:35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar. 36 Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.

"From Abel" to "Zachariah" is "this generation." IE, "this race." "This people." QED

Abel, from at least 3,900 BC.

To:

Zachariah who was a contemporary of Haggai, and Malachi, c500-400 BC.

If the word always means "all the people alive at that time" then a whole lot of people were 3,500 year old!

LOL! ROFLOL!

Matthew 24:34

Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

So the jewish race will pass away after that?

Use race in any other place Genea is used.

Genos is better used as race to avoid confusion.

Yes. After the Second Coming when Christ brings all things to completion, there will be neither Jew nor Gentile, male nor female, bond nor free for we will all be one in Christ Jesus.

That is already the situation in Christ (Galatians 3:26-29; Colossians 3:11).

So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.
Mat 23:32

This is now the subject, the people he is talking to.

Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!
Mat 23:33

“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
Mat 23:34

Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
Mat 23:35

And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

Why does he say "whom you murdered"? because he was talking about them and their ancestors

Mat 23:36

Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.

everything that has happened from their ancestors until now is drawing its climax on this current generation, because they will Kill the Son of God, like their ancestors who killed prophets.

Mat 23:38
Look, your house is left to you desolate.

The sacking of the house when? in AD 70! (that same generation, just like he said), who's house?

Mat 23:2

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.

The temple

So you know better than all the Greek experts in the world? Where did you learn Greek and how many years of study have you completed?

Many greek experts have also said the bible doesn't condone homosexuality

Many Jewish experts say the OT is mistranslated to fit the Christian Christ.

Really? Give me some names and some published articles.

Really? Give me some names and some published articles.

Search any Judaism website. Its full of "Hebrew translations, denying the virgin birth and anything leading up to christ"

Of course your going to refute anything I give you, The only "credible" anything is people that agree with you.

And I don't even agree with them anyways, so instead of hijacking the thread, carry on with the subject.

I looked up "Fausset" to see if I could "tap" into your source.

The JFB Commentary refers Mat. 24 to their comments on Mark 13.

I strongly recommend that that whole link be studied before any more comments are made. I'll just post their comment on Mark 13:30
30. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass fill all these things be done--or "fulfilled" ( Mat 24:34 Luk 21:32 ). Whether we take this to mean that the whole would be fulfilled within the limits of the generation then current, or, according to a usual way of speaking, that the generation then existing would not pass away without seeing a begun fulfilment of this prediction, the facts entirely correspond. For either the whole was fulfilled in the destruction accomplished by Titus, as many think; or, if we stretch it out, according to others, till the thorough dispersion of the Jews a little later, under Adrian, every requirement of our Lord's words seems to be met.
