I also have a passion for Joel Osteen....for him to get saved, dump the WoF GARBAGE he spews and to teach the whole counsel of God.

Until that happens, I'll rage-vomit every time I see him.

Evan, I don't think that you and this guy will see eye-to-eye. If he truly is brainwashed by Osteen, he thinks that God is the Galactic Santa Claus who gives us toys, keeps us healthy ONLY if we use magical faith-words, and He'll never EVER let us be poor if we're good little boys & girls.

I hear what you're saying about the wife, but I'm not alone when I advise you to find a Calvie church....I'm just speaking my heart, brother. Until then, have fun continuously arguing with a man whose hero spends more on haircare products than you and I will make in our lifetime.

Evan I have already traveled down this road. After God convinced me of the truth I tried to share it with my home church and the associational churches. They would not have it. I started out telling them the old fashion altar was not that old but Charles G. Finney brought it into the church. I was accused of trying to throw God out of the church. I stood again free will and preached free grace, they said God don't beat nobody over the head and make him to be saved. I finally left because I was not being fed by what they believed and they would not let me feed them. I feel for you but if you continue to believe the truth it will cost you dearly.

Frankly I would rather be in the Calvinist church down the road, however my wife won't agree to it, and so I just join them on tuesdays and whenever possible. I noticed we are far more like minded. These are not Reformed, such as a church that emphasizes the sacraments, creeds, confessions, infant Baptism, and Amill eschatology, but a Calvinistic Dispensationalist church in Soteriology.

While I would disagree with everything you believe, I agree with everything you said here.

Amo 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

You are a Calvinist in a non-Calvinist Baptist church. It ain't gonna work.

But we agree on the essentials of the faith!

Evan....how you gonna be someone your not? Doesn't this pastor understand this.....and then, doesn't your wife understand this. Your place is with that Calvie church. Well keep causing discord in the ranks.....sooner or later they will come to understand. Its not you....its them.

Actually the pastors (although not Calvinist) do like the teachings of moderate Calvinist. The church is going through a Jerry Bridges book. I don't think they really care about the issue in the debate. The problem is this one brother whom hates Calvinist.

I agree. I did find a Calvinist church and I join the men once a week.

So the Doctrines of Grace theology is not considered an essential to you?!?

Jesus is God
The Bible is the Word of God
The Trinity
Jesus is the only way to salvation (John 14:6)
Salvation by Grace and Justification by Faith (Eph 2:8-10)

The Arminian believe these things and so they are my brothers.

I disagree here. If they are saved, they will accept him as he is. There are one or two who know my change in beliefs at my home church, and they have shown me nothing but respect.

You need to grind your iron harder Brother Dave. :D

Oh, I do agree. Unfortunately, the most precious commodity is time. I do read quite a bit, and quite a bit more "variety" then some certain one grants credit for. Glad you are still around these parts. A mature voice representing your positions.

But that is not what is happening in Evangelist's church is it?

You are the EXCEPTION, not the rule.

Most in the church do show me respect, however I have not gotten close or built any friendships with anyone, probably because we are not exactly like minded. However I have had much better success at the local Calvinist church, however I only meet with the men once a week. But they do have a men's breakfast at a local diner once a month of which I plan to join.

Would you be OK if someone started attending your Calvinist man-group and began exploiting the prayer request time to passively-aggressively spread his Arminian views?

....and they maintain an anthropocentric perspective...ie manbecomes his own authority and point of reference.

I heard a RC priest say that in a sermon the other day. A cording to him and his Catholic church, the will of man is the decisive factor in salvation. Do you agree with that?
