Wait a minute... You teach Sunday school and when the opportunity comes up, you deliberately teach things contrary to the official theological position of the church you represent?

Wrong! I said in SS discussion. When I have taught I have stayed within their doctrine. But in discussion with other teachers I have expressed my views when prompted.

Dude. Stop preaching. Get two jobs. Pay your debts and provide for your family. In other words . . .

. . . be a Christian.

As long as you and your wife are disagreed, you cannot pastor. I don't think pastoring or preaching is your love anyway. I think you just like to talk. Of all the self-willed, arrogant know-it-alls that I have met, I can honestly say you're one of them.

Go chase a rabbit Aaron!

Evan, I will ask again, in case you missed it the first time:
(regarding the church that you wish to join) Why would you wish to join when you have been advised against?

Question: Would you be willing to suggest that your pastor be in contact with this other church's pastor to discuss your wish (as in a background check), or would you be embarrassed by what he may tell him about your contentiousness?

Have not been advised against joining. Have been advised to keep the peace at my own church.

Sorry, but I'm not seeing a difference. Surely joining another church would not be keeping peace with your current church! Or am I missing something?

From your Opening Post:
"Elders at the church do understand my family situation and have themselves advised me to keep the peace and not to go to a different church as my wife."

As I understand your comment, they advised you to stay put.

Because she does not agree with Calvinism, among other areas where I agree.
No offense, but one of the main focuses of a Church is to Make Disciples. While theology is important, "Calvinism" hasn't proven itself to make "better" disciples, as this board is evidence of this. You need to be discipled my friend (as we all do).

Out of the abundance of the heart the fingers type. I'm not misunderstanding you. I'm understanding you completely. Take my advice, find your calling. Scorn my advice, disqualification is at the door.
