Have any researchers actually looked into the cause of migraines? I have never seen so many suffering from these headaches, and especially so many children in one family.
Cheers,
Jim
To a degree.
A lot of it seems to be caused by diet. I am also convinced that it can be caused by air quality.
I suffered disabling migraines for a couple of years. They were to the point that I would not understand what I was doing. For example, I would lay in the road, I would lay on top of vehicles, anything I thought might help.
What changed them for me was a major diet change. My neurologist had me take out anything from my diet that contained tyramines. I also knocked out caffeine. This included removing such things from my diet as lunch meats, sodas, chocolate, cheese, plums, nuts, fresh bread, yogurt, and anything that contained a probable amount of preservatives. (canned fish, fast foods, prepackaged foods from the store, etc.)
The result? I get migraines now only on occasion, and they're usually only a few hours. I get them once a month at the onset of my cycle, and if I overdo what I eat, for example if I eat a bunch of beef jerkey or a bunch of nuts I will get one, but I can usually trace it back to what I ate.
I still get them before storms, but the storm has to cause a good drop in air pressure. A normal storm might just cause a headache, but a major change is likely to bring on a migraine.
I believe that living near a plastics factory also contributed to the severity and number of migraines I had before.
So IMO a large number of migraine sufferers in the United States suffer because of high levels of unnatural garbage in our foods and high levels of unnatural garbage in our air. Or at least they would suffer a lot less without it!
