Today is kiddie day for me. With Bob and the teens away, it's just me and the 2 little ones so I promised them I'd take them to Chuck E. Cheeses yesterday (which we ended up not going to because I worked too long and would NOT have done well there at 3 in the afternoon), but will go today instead - and then we're going to build-a-bear. Should be fun for them!! Bob and the girls are doing well - heard from him last night right after we heard about Saddam Hussein - he was listening to the news on his laptop when he called and he had just heard about it too. But the girls are doing great and he's having a good time too. He wasn't sure whether he should go or not (on the youth retreat) but he finally felt that he SHOULD be there. I know the other youth staff appreciate his experience with teens (he was MY youth leader 24 years ago) and the fact that he's so saavy when it comes to all the electronics that he can pretty much fix any issues they might have with the sound/computers and such. I'm glad he went because, even though I'm home without any babysitters, it's much more low key with just the little ones and it's been pretty relaxing. :D I love them all but it's nice to get a break sometimes.

Yeppers! I know what you mean. You're a Clint Eastwood (and a western movie) fan just like I am.

Howdy Clint Eastwood fans!

Hey, we need a smily with a cowboy hat!

Are you all having a lovely rainy afternoon like we are? Yep, it's a pourin' around here. Poor kids had to bring in the groceries in the rain. Had to walk all of two steps from the back of the car to the garage. They put on raincoats like they would melt!

Ann, there is no good day to go to Chuck E Cheese's. That has to be my least favorite kid place there is. Cardboard pizza, "Mommy, I just nneeeeedddd another $5 for tokens and then I'll be throooouuugh!" and those annoying animatronic singing things. Uggg! Nope, I'll take my nice rainy day of grocery shopping any day! :D

It's getting awfully dark out, I think I'll go take a look at the weather radar.

Ya know, it's bedtime!!

Someone tell me that! It's now 1:40AM and I'm NOT tired!

I KNOW DH didn't pray for me tonight. He usually prays that I can get to sleep when he's away and when he does, I get to sleep before 11:30. When he forgets, I sit on the computer at 1:40 AM. :(

Good morning all,

Cindi: check your PM's.

Ann: I was up until almost 2:00. It's the Prednisone that keeps me awake though.

It is 50º already this morning! Actually, that was the low for last night. This balmy weather is nice, but it's keeping everyone sick.

Dr. hasn't released me to cook yet, so I guess I won't be fixing Swedish Meatballs for New Year's Eve tonight. Everyone will have to settle for S'mores (which Brent can make) and Eggnog. We're going to watch "Ben Hur" with Charleton Heston after church (which I am still not allowed to go to).

Dr. is afraid I will catch something from the crowds, before I get over what I already have, and end up in the hospital...

It's already been 7 days since I've stuck my head outside!

Time for hot chocolate and meds.

Good Morning Everybody,

It's 40 degrees outside and raining. The far west is welcome to the snow. I hope the weather stays this way until March and then warms up.

No church for us today. Don't feel like cross-infecting with everybody else in Michigan. We can resume searching next week, if we feel up to it.

Tonight will just be another regular night for us. I gave up on all the New Years nonsense years ago I'll be in bed by 9pm as usual.

Blessed Sunday Everyone!

It is still raining here! I hope it's snow up in the mountains of NC where our youth are on the annual ski trip! I'm also glad it's not my youth that are up there! (I can just imagine the broken arms and legs.)

Sue, thanks for the pm. I'll try learning the new skill when I'm at my own computer. T has mine occupied so I'm on Cass' and, well let's just say the learning curve on this machine is way to high! I'm lucky to get this thing to post.

Well, it's New Year's Eve and down comes the Christmas tree. :( The kids are just about to get everything off of it. Then I'll take it apart and move everything to the garage. Sigh, I hate seeing the tree come down.

LOL, they are having to fight the cat for the tree! She's slapping them from between the branches and pouncing on them from as high as she can get. Crazy cat. I hope the kids don't seal her up in the tree box!

Blackbird wishes to wish MK a happy new year and would like to leave 2006 with a few comments on said questionable paragraphs she leaves behind

Paragraph #1

Blackbird sure hopes it snows----it'd be a bummer trip without the stuff especially when they specifically went to see the stuff and slide around on the stuff!!

Paragraph #2

Skill?? What skill??? Never leave Blackbird "hangin'" in suspense over a new skill

Paragraph #3

Concernin' the Christmas tree!!! Back in Blackbird's "childhood" days --- my momma was the worlds worse at decorating the tree!!! My daddy left it "up to her" ---- and it always wound up we'd get around to decorating the tree on Christmas Eve ---- and would dismantle the thing right after we open presents on Christmas Day!!!

Paragraph #4

Concerning that cat fight!!! It wouldn't be so much a fight if you would allow Gibby and the Pit Stop crew "handle" the lite stuff!!!

Happy New Year to Sister Sue and her Coffee Shop pals!!!!!!

Thank you, Blackbird, but the cat lost the fight and tree is in it's box. Just the tree, mind you! The cat is off sulking somewhere. :D

Happy New Year!

Oh, and my new skill will be evident when I learn it. Which won't be until I can get back to my own computer!

Good morning all,

It is 34º this morning and it looks like it's going to snow. Actually, I think we're going to get some 'sloshy' stuff - snow mixed with rain.

I finish my Prednisone tomorrow so maybe I can get some sleep! My breathing is much better. Now if I could just get this incessant coughing to stop! I'm not sure when the doctor's office opens up again, but I will need one more bottle of cough syrup when it does...

I used the scissors all day yesterday and will be using glue today. I sold a birthday "package" on ebay (matching plates, cups, napkins, table cloth, crepe paper, etc.) I got a request for a matching centerpiece and "loot" bags which I need to send out Wednesday. I made some really cute loot bags out of lunch bags and google images that I printed on card stock and cut out. I need to glue them on the bags today and add some ribbons. I also reinforced the inside of the bags with left-over card stock.

I'm kind of stuck on the centerpiece. I am kind of limited since it has to be shipped. So far all I've come up with is wrapping a small square box (with a separate lid so it can be kept and reused) with shiny matching paper, then gluing some matching images and ribbons on it.

Any other suggestions? I want to do a good job so maybe I will get more requests...

Time for the first cup of hot chocolate in 2007!
