Oh, wow, Helen!! I'll be praying for Gina!!

I'm just on for a second - I have to run. I'm heading out for our church's ladies retreat in a bit and still need to get something for lunch. Pray that God is glorified and the women are blessed this weekend.

I'll "see" y'all on Sunday night or Monday.

    Hello all!

Snow in March! And daylight saving time this Sunday! Well, that might mean not so many at church this week, and fewer kids.

I have been running like a hamster in a treadmill these past two weeks, so I thought I would slow down and check in here.

What do you all think of the early DST?

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Our computer has been down for a day. I bet nobody noticed I was gone.

Not much going on here. Amazing how much we depend on the internet isn't it?

I think the early DST is great. Nice to have an extra hour of daylight in the evening. Too early for backyard barbeques yet, but it won't be long.

I know all you "Southern Belles" are having barbeques now...More Power To You.

Time to get dinner ready. Firecracker Burgers with Cooling Lime Sauce, Banana Pepper Slaw, Spicy Hush Puppy Onion Rings, and "Not-Baked" Alaska for dessert.

    Hello all,
I have been chasing kindergarteners for the last three days and I think I could go to bed and stay for a long while if my back weren't giving me problems again. I am looking at a busy weekend between church and the neices and nephews that play soccer and basketball this weekend. Hope I remember to set my clock. I had better go, I need to get my popcorn and check the snail mail!

    Morning all!

This has been a really busy school year at old CBDS, so I haven't been around much.

But I've had a bit of relief the past couple of days, so I thought I'd pop in and get the coffee & hot water going and visit for a bit.

    Good morning all!

Helen: Please tell Gina "hi" for me and tell her I'm still praying for her and the girls. I miss her, but I bet she gets a lot more done since she stopped posting...

Rob: I missed you and was going to ask where you were yesterday afternoon, but I never did make it back in here.

Debby: I'm not crazy about DST because I'm a morning person and I much prefer getting up when it's light outside.

Ann: Have fun at your ladies retreat!

It is below freezing right now, but is supposed to be almost 60ยบ this afternoon! I'm going to hang some clothes outside to let them air out, along with the bed pillows.

I need to make a post office run this morning and I might as well stop at the grocery store while I'm out.

I volunteered to make ham & beans and cornbread for the school kids lunch next Thursday and shank hams are on sale right now. I think I'll make it easy on myself and just bake some cookies for dessert.

I've got a hankerin' for some coffee this morning instead of hot chocolate. Thanks for getting it going, Bitsy! Smells delicious!

Don't forget to turn your clocks up tonight or you'll be late for church tomorrow! [IMG]

Sue, I'm waiting anxiously to see if all those "patches" are going to work on our computers for the early "spring forward"!

I didn't download any patches, but my computer isn't two years old yet, so maybe I'll be all right. Otherwise, I'll just set the clock manually.

The only thing I can think of it throwing off is the scheduled maintenance.

    Am I missing something?

I think most people are concerned about their calendars. That's what everyone at work is in a tizzy over.

    Good Morning Everybody,

We've got some strange bright thing in the sky. I'm not sure what it is. I remember seeing it a long time ago, but not lately.

Thanks for the coffee Bitsy. I've been trying to keep up with your bringing in food to the Coffeehouse. Good to have you back, my food can't compare to yours.

In honor of Bitsy's return I brought in Sausage and Cheese Potato Casserole, Sausage-Oatmeal Cups, Oven Breakfast Hash, and Fruit-Filled Petal Rolls [everything is Gluten-Free, I didn't forget:thumbs: .]

Gkids have gone swimming at a local college with their friends, I've got chores to do and have to get ready for the Wild-Game Dinner at church tonight.

    Mornin' folks!

Yeah, the sun is making great efforts here, too! I'm starting to feel the spring cleaning bug attacking. Get rid of winter; get things shiny clean and bright again!

I HATE daylight savings time at ANY time of the year! Like Sue, I am a morning person and really appreciate the way GOD does things! Nevertheless, let it not be said that I am inflexible....LOL

So after sleeping/dozing a good deal yesterday, we are ready to go today. Cleaning up will be a major thing -- deep cleaning starting in the master bed and bath area. Some neighbor kids are bringing over their 18 month old pup every afternoon while I show them how to train her. They are all enjoying it -- and each other -- a lot more now. Before they found themselves just shouting "NO! NO!" to her as she did things young dogs do, without an idea of what it was they really wanted. So this is fun and both the dog and kids are responding really well.

Horses have been running around, pretending they are not old ladies, and ripping up the wet pasture in the process! But the grass will grow and they are enjoying themselves immensely. It's fun to watch.

God bless you all. I'm restless to get out and get moving.

Well, Good Morning to all of you. This is our first frost-free morning for some time now and it is glorious...even the rain is welcome, and I feel like going outdoors and "singing in the rain......" I do have a brollie and wellies....lol.

I have been wearing Alpaca wool socks this winter. They cost $50.00 a pair, but the circulation in my feet has returned and for the first time in many years my feet have been warm. They only thing we can attribute to this change is the socks....praise God for His creatures who give their products without giving their lives.

Time means little to me, like the rewording of an old poem:

Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in:
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad
Say that health and wealth have missed me,
Say I'm growing old. but add,
    God loves me.

    Cheers,

    Jim

This is for you, Jim. It's by Florence Smith and its title is "Song"

How pleasant it is that always
There's somebody older than you --
Someone to pet and caress you,
    Someone to scold you, too!

Someone to call you a baby,
    To laugh at you when you're wise;
Someone to care when you're sorry,
To kiss the tears from your eyes.

When life has begun to be weary,
And youth to melt like the dew,
To know, like the little children,
    Somebody's older than you.

The path cannot be so lonely,
    For others have trod it before;
The golden gates are the nearer,
That Someone stands at the door.

I can think of nothing sadder
Then to feel, when days are few,
There's nobody left to lean on,
    Nobody older than you!

The younger ones may be tender
    To the feeble steps and slow;
But they can't talk the old times over --
    Alas, how should they know!

'Tis a romance to them -- a wonder
    You were ever a child at play;
But the dear ones waiting in heaven
Know it is all as you say.

I know that our great Lord and Father
    Loves us, and the little ones, too;
    Keep only childlike-hearted --
    Heaven is older than you!

[note: I have altered a couple of words to make it more Christian]

    Good Morning Everyone!

It is beautiful here today too! Good thing, because T and I need to work on my brakes today if my new rotor has come in. And I bought a few new shrub saplings at the extension office sale, so I need to some work in the backyard and get them put in. On top of all that, it has been so warm here the last few days that I HAVE to get the pool opened. I see green slime on the bottom.

Helen, it sounds an awful lot like you are beginning spring cleaning. Don't you know that there are still 11 days until spring?

    Gotta go get started!

Thanks Helen,,that was nice. I altered a line too..the last line in mine was.........."Jenny kissed me..." It was a poem by Leigh Hunt.

Believe it or not, I used that poem in its orginal form to preach a sermon on memories. I was preaching to a group of WWII veterans in 1997. Eventually led to Remember the Sabbath....Remember the days of Old,,and Remember me. So I started off by talking about remembering our first kiss.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

My friend called and her oven isn't working right and she burned her pies for the Wild Game Dinner.

I threw together Walnut Maple Pie, Triple Chocolate Bundt Cake, and Creamy Lemon Pie. Hope they're good. :praying:

    Gotta run.

    Morning!

Coffee's perking and hot water is in the kettle. Ron got in from Tampa late, late, late, so I'm a bit bleary eyed this a.m. House is clean though and all the clothes are washed. It's amazing how much you can get done in a day when you are alone and motivated to CLEAN!

    Good morning all,

It is 7:00 and just now starting to get light outside. :BangHead:

Bitsy: My computer clock changed right on schedule. I'm glad of that!

Helen: I have the spring-cleaning bug too, but it's going to have to wait until our sun porch is remodeled and our new windows are installed. Otherwise, it will just have to all be cleaned again.

I am going to deep clean the three bedrooms. I'm hoping the dust, etc. from remodeling doesn't reach that far! Oops! I still have to get new windows put in the bedrooms. I'm not sure how big a mess that will be. Maybe I'll just wait.

One thing I can do is take the curtains down and get them washed, cleaned, etc., and ready to put back up after the mess is gone. I've already washed all the throw pillows and afghans I have on/over the back of recliners and the couch, as well as all of the comforters for the beds.

The sun porch is empty except for a table and two booths. I will take all my plants out of the 8 windows and take the curtains down, then we will be ready to tear the ceiling out and take the walls down. That will be the messiest job.

    Have a pleasant day all!

Sue! I forgot to look. I just sat down and started typing, but my clock changed right on schedule too! Hot Dog!

oo oo! Another forgot. Yesterday, I got a wallpaper steamer and some paint stripper. I'm going to start in one room, but the wall paper is coming down and the painted woodwork is getting stripped for staining.

One room at a time. (that will be my mantra ;) )

Hey Everyone! I'm hopping on on for just a few minutes to clear out some of my e-mails. I'm sorry I missed you all but I'll see you in the morning.

Ladies Retreat went really well but I'm tired - spent much of yesterday at the hospital with a friend who was with us who's 14 weeks pregnant and started bleeding. Praise the Lord for the bleeding - I honestly think He did it JUST to get her to a doctor other than her own. Turns out she's rh negative - and on her second pregnancy. She needed a Rhogam shot and her doctor didn't give it to her - or even TELL her she's rh negative!! She got the shot and it looks like God set it all up to keep that baby safe. Praise the Lord!!

So, I'm shot - I came home, said "hi" to everyone and went to bed - and slept 2 hours, got up, had some soup and I'm going to go back to bed in a bit. A good night's sleep will help a lot. :D

Good night all!! I'll turn out the lights and I'll see ya tomorrow!
