Jon-marc,
Have you ever looked into special arch supports for your shoes? They can do wonders when it comes to walking...Just4 be sure you go to a foot specialist for examination and fitting.

Cheers,

Jim

Sue--I just said the same thing yesterday, that "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." Have you considered getting tested for sleep apnea? Not getting enough rest can do all kinds of stuff to a body.

By the way, the only thing they gave me was some strong glue they used to attach all the wires to my skin for the sleep study. Maybe the glue caused my energy spurt instead of the c-pap machine!

Well, I'm not into sniffing glue!

I don't have sleep apnea. I sleep fine once I get to bed. My lack of sleep has to do with different schedules around here.

I used to get to bed early, but I won't go to bed until Brent is home and safely in bed. He is playing in a basketball game at church tonight and then they had a pizza fellowship with the other team after the game. I am waiting for him to get home. I would have gone to bed two hours ago, if not for that.

Unfortunately, he has activities every evening but two, so I am up late and I get up early almost all the time. And, he likes to tell me about his evening when he gets home, so that takes up another 30-45 minutes.

For some reason, I am always going to take a nap, but most days I don't get around to it. I was going to lay down after Brent went to school this morning and finally hit the couch about 1:30 and got up at 2:30 with a stiff neck!

And people call these the 'golden years'... :BangHead:

I think I'm in 'burn out' mode. :tear:

Pleasant dreams all! :sleeping_2:

Trying to get by on retirement isn't easy, and there's no money for special shoes. I have to buy inexpensive shoes as it is. A lot of my money goes to pay medical bills since my body is wearing out.

(There are a lot of us on here older than you, Jon-Marc, and living on limited incomes.

Jim did not say to buy expensive shoes - he said to get some 'arch supports' to put into the shoes you already have. These can be very inexpensive.)

Good morning all!

It is 1º here, so we are still in a deep freeze! Oh well, at least the sun is shining, as well as the Son!

I had a VERY restful night's sleep last night. PTL!!! I got to bed about 11:00 and slept straight through until 6:30 this morning. It's amazing what a good night's sleep can do for your emotional state...

Today is laundry day, 'munching' day, and also movie day (and maybe cookie-baking day). It is the only day of the week that no one has to leave the house. I may stay in my jammies all day. LOL

We have two, three-hour movies to watch. The Greatest Story Ever Told and King of Kings. We will watch one this morning, then do our chores, then watch the other one after showers this evening.

Brent is still sleeping and I have a hankering for some hot chocolate.

HAGD all!

Hi Jon,

I buy basketball referee shoes when they are on sale @ 15-20 dollars. Mostly I wear work boots..mind you they cost almost $200.00. I have little choice because of strokes, but they last for years.....so, penny wise and pound foolish does not apply.

My inserts are expensive, but one can obtain much cheaper insoles at the market (Scholes) or on the internet at specialist shops. The difference is that I couldn't walk 20 steps without stopping before. Now, with the insoles, I walk a mile without stopping.

Age and pension, yep, I have them both at 80, but aside from the strokes and diabetes, I am fairly well off health-wise.

Cheers,

Jim

Good Morning Everybody,

It is 12 degrees with snow flurries here, headed for a high of 20 [supposedly].

I was just kidding Sue, I know exactly what it feels like to be "sick & tired of being sick & tired." Just remember two things:

1. We all get heavier as we get older, because there is so much information in our heads.

2. Always remember you are unique, just like everybody else.

I'm running late today so I brought in lunch. Chicken and Biscuits, Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy, and French Apple Pie alamode. Enjoy.

Most of my chores are done, the G-kids are having lunch [Meatball Sandwiches with Spicy Mayo,] then they are being taken by the parents of one of their friends to a open swim day at a nearby college.

I'm going to watch some NCAA basketball then start preparing dinner. Pork Medallions with Chutney, Curried Lentil Soup, Warm Roasted Vegetable Salad, and Shortcakes with Cinnamon Fruit.

Never ask a child what he wants for dinner, unless he's paying. Jack Benny

G'day!

It was one of THOSE nights. I, who could not even stay awake at my high school all-nighter, could not get to sleep before four this morning. I was up and down and up and down. Headache, sore throat, restless....

Hey, I've had a good, solid four hours' sleep now! I know I'm going to pay for it later... a nap this afternoon should help, though.

It got really sunny and pretty for awhile yesterday afternoon. This morning all is wet and the sky is cloudy.

Barry's paper that I'm formatting for the net has seven sections and eight appendices. It has over a hundred equations and over two hundred references. It is a long, slow, slogging journey though justifying, linking, Greek letters (used in the equations), double-checking equations. I've gotten all seven sections of the paper done and the first two appendices done. The whole thing is 62 pages on Word. So I'm doing it in sections for the net. I'll battle it out with Appendix 3 today. He's brilliant; I'm proud of him; I wish there were no such thing as mathematical proofs!

Although the rain in Spain may stay mainly in the plain, the Greeky is freaky and I'l try to finish next weeky.

Too little sleep does NOT help, does it?

Rob, your dinner sounds good. Pork and chutney go well together. About once a month I make curried pumpkin soup for Barry. It's one of his favorites. Have fun with the cooking!

God bless y'all.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, the guinea pigs and the sewing both got tossed yesterday and I ended up at the docs office with Cass. She woke up from a nap and I could see the swollen gland on one side of her neck. I took her in for a strep test, which thankfully was negative. The doc mentioned flu. We don't think so though. We decided she really had a bad viral infection which has triggered an arthritis flare and a migraine. This is what I thought it was in the beginning cause Chris, Jenna and myself had already had this particular bug. But better safe than sorry. Letting strep go is a bad idea.

The dogs did get bathed last night, but the kids dried them so it was fast work. The dogs WERE NOT happy with us! You should have seen the looks we got! They were still wary this morning and did not follow me into the bathroom like they usually do. One of them thought about it but turned and went the other way when he heard me turn on the water in the tub.

So today, it's chores and sewing, beginning with my poor neglected guinea pigs.

Sue, send those cookies my way! (I hope they are peanut butter. :) )

Thanks for lunch, Cuz. I love mushroom gravy. (and thank the Lord only the kids had to eat meatball sandwiches! yuck! just one of foods I refuse to eat.)

See ya'll later!

Good morning, folks. It's my turn to go to church, and the sun is trying to peek through the rain clouds making all the raindrops on the trees look like diamonds. And I got enough sleep, and I finished basic formatting on the ENTIRE paper of Barry's yesterday.

It's a GLORIOUS day!

No one has set out breakfast yet, so there is fresh squeezed orange juice, croissants, maple sausage (homemade), and cheese omelettes on the sideboard. Help yourself to the melon and strawberries. Plenty of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate on the tea cart.

Simple fare, but it will stick to your ribs on a cold day just fine!

Good morning all,

Another bad night on the couch. I didn't get to sleep until 4:00a.m. and got back up at 7:00.

It is up to 24º right now but we are under a 'winter storm advisory' for tonight thru Tuesday. We're expecting freezing rain, a sheet of ice, and to top it off, as much as 8 inches of snow is possible.

Needless to say, with a lack of sleep, swollen legs, ankles, and feet (which means my heart is acting up again), and the weather, I will be missing church again today. They will be wondering if I changed churches before long!

I am very tired, but not sleepy. After lunch, I will sit in the recliner, prop my feet up and crochet, while watching a movie. Maybe I can doze off for a bit.

I am SO anxious for spring to arrive!

Thanks for breakfast, Helen! I didn't have the energy to cook this morning.

Time for hot chocolate!

I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling too well, Sue. Don't even bother to get up and fix some hot cocca ... I will make you some from the traditional family recipe -- and top it off with whip cream.

Spring? You and me both. I am so tired of ice -- sleet and snow ... I could miss five winters and be satisfied. The bird bath broke yesterday, so I had to glue it back together ... and the birds didn't have water for 8 hours. I don't guess it affected them too much, I mean ... surely they don't wake up in the middle of the night and go take a sip, hehe.

I just got through eating hamburger helper and drinking some sweet, southern, iced tea. I know Oklahoma isn't too far south, but as a southern grown boy from Louisiana, I like to think my tea is southern!

I have two mason jars filled ... as they have been in the window since earrrrrrly this morning. Anybody want some? Help yourself.

Hi Sheila!

I put a gallon of water and nine tea bags in a wide-mouth, glass, gallon jug (jugs are sold for this purpose and have a pour dispenser close to the bottom) and place it outside in the sun for three hours.

I bring it inside, remove the tea bags and add my sugar and stir, refrigerate for an hour or so and enjoy a great glass of tea!

One doesn't have to add ice, but I prefer ice in my cold drinks.

 Um, Sue, yeah! You MUST add ice, lol. I leave mine in the window ... and it does just fine. Mine may be in the window longer than yours, though. I put it in around 4AM ... and drink around 11:00 -- and 3PM on school days. The school days are the best, because nothing is better than coming home to a glass of sweet, southern, iced tea... after a stressful day.

Good Morning Everyone!

No church for us this morning either Sue. I woke up to three sore and very red throats so we stayed home. Then I decided they weren't as sick as they thought they were and made 'em clean up this house some. There's more that could be done, but I'll do the rest tomorrow while they are at school. It's sad that a kid that is already on antibiotics can come down with a sore throat that is apparently unaffected by the medicine!

I'm going to play at the sewing machine or read some today, but I haven't decided which. This weeks book count is up to 5. 4 that I've finished and 1 I'm about halfway through. Choir practice is supposed to be at 4:30, so I'll have to cook early today. T can keep the kids tonight.

Ya'll have a good day!

Thanks Sue. I would have to have lemon added and lots of ice in the glass. How much lemon would you add to a gallon then, if you don't mind my asking?

Blessings :wavey:
