Helen - Our barn situation is individual paddocks so the horses are all separated so that they can't USUALLY get to each other. But, of course, a nose reaching across to another reached out nose equals a big bite. The biter has been biting all of them whenever he can get near them.
His paddock is right next to the big enclosed riding arena and often we'll turn a horse out into the ring so that they can run and get their goofies out but they ALL go over to see Bob and then Bob will take a chunk. He's a canibal, I tell you!
But fortunately Starr's nose is healing. It was REALLY bad for 2 days and we just tried to keep it as clean as possible and put on whatever we could swipe there before he pulled away. It started closing up but he keeps banging the scab so it opens up around the edges again. I'm sure today it will look much better than it did on Thursday when I saw him last. Poor boy! That nose is his eyes so it's got to hurt when he bangs it against something!
