I'm sitting at the hospital now, prepared to stay for the next few days. Lauren got out of bed twice today and is now sleeping after sitting up in the chair for about 20 minutes. She's still in a lot of pain and now on Tordol as well as morphine. Today will most likely be her worst day as far as pain and tomorrow will be not far behind but from there, she should be on the upswing. :)

So where's that coffee? I need it!! LOL

My, my, I see the Common Ground Coffee House is under new management. It looks like the walls got a new coat of paint, the furnishin refreshed and rearranged. I hope the decaf coffee is Tasters Choice still. I usually have one cup at around 5:00 or 5:30 a.m. with a few slices of cinnanom-raisine bread. By the way, congratulations and good wishes to the new Prorietor!!! :)

Hey Barnabas!! The coffee is great - it's whatever you want!! :D

So we had these very high, humid temps today - and then had storms and dropped 20 degrees in about an hour!! It's actually really nice now and I'm opening windows once I'm sure the rain has let up. :)

Today we went to the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY which is where a lot of the old planes were built. Grumman was there as was a bunch of other companies and it was really fun to go because my brother is in the Navy and flies so we learned a lot. It was a good choice for a SUPER hot day and it was so nice to see my brother and his family again. :)

Ann, that visit to the Cradle of Aviation Museum must have been real interesting. You mentioned Grumman and I remembered the time (in my younger years) when our company worked as sub-contractor to Grumman in their F-14 pilot training programs. We published the pilot's training manuals. I specifically handled all the art work illustrations, and supervised the pool of typists who copied the tech-writer's text with their IBM typewriters (there were no PCs yet). Thanks for taking me down memory lane! :)

That's so cool!! There were some manuals there - I wonder if your work was there and I didn't know it!!

I doubt it Ann, for the training manual was categorized as "Secret" & "Top Secret" at the time, and it was definitely not for the eyes of the public.

Well, we got the bill for Lauren's last hospitalization. Not too bad. 15 days in New York Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center was just $71,500.

It's a grain of sand in comparison to the care your daughter got and how it saved her life, that I understand, that's just a lot of money though. I pray you're blessed enough to be able to handle it without it being a nightmare financially.

But I do gotta call you out on the duck thing. LOL That was just plain funny, not weird! Maybe it's because I relate...chickens do it for me, I can stand and watch chickens and end up in peals of laughter because they just crack me up so much with their funny little walks and mannerisms.

Gina, you are funny!!! However, the woman laughing was not.... at least her laughter did not tickle my funny bones.

Ann, I trust and pray that you have sufficient health insurance to cover that bill. Incidentally, I can identify with huge hospital bills. Even though here in Charlotte, NC. the cost of living is way lower than up there in New York, and everything is cheeper in comparison, two years ago Lenke's total knee replacement cost $48K and some change, while last November her 3.5-day stay in the hospital with double pheumonia was $14K. Thank God we have Medicare & AARP so we did not have to pay anything. I pray the good Lord relieve you of any medical cost.

Yep, we have pretty decent insurance. We have a high deductible ($5950) insurance but the church puts in about 80% of that so we only have to come up with $1500. I'll put $200 in the HSA account each month and just start paying the doctors down. Hey, after THAT illness, I'll pay anything. It's so good to have Lauren home and healthy! Everyone at church asks me how she's doing when I'm there during the week (we have the other campus so I don't see a lot of people) and I tell them to just go up to the office and they can see her!! NO one can believe she was so sick because she just looks so great!! :)

That's awesome Ann! I'm so glad this won't be a burden on you. :godisgood:

My violin girl is making me proud! She asked if I would let her rent a bass from the school when it ended, figured she did good in school, I could fulfill a whim for her and let her bring it home and play around with it. No lessons though, can't afford it.
So she's teaching violin at a music camp, the time comes for the concert at the end, they have an unexpected need for a bass player right before it starts, they hear her playing, she gets first chair! There's practically blood and gore fights over first chair for any concert anywhere. Well, not really blood and gore, more like dirty looks and magically disappearing bows and my daughter and her friend at a different concert actually had to ask someone to leave who ran up and sat there when daughter and friend were first/second violin.

LOL So I guess she's gone from my violin girl to my violin/bass girl.

Gina, you must be a proud Mama indeed. By the way, to me it is hard to believe that those "little" girls I met in NYC have grown up and become beautiful young ladies - with talent!!! They must have taken after their Mom. :)

That laughing toddler is indeed precious!

Lenke and I celebrated our 44th Wedding Anniversary last Friday. This afternoon she was having a CT Scan for her lungs. The doctors are trying to clear up the light/grey outline of her lungs (as they said, it could be either a fungal infection or oxygen deprived). At any rate, if it does not improve, they will have to "wash it." Yes, I was told by our lung specialist that they may have to do that. Covet your prayers....
